quick question

Recommended Posts

right I've gone through the rules section but I'm not sure if a question I want to ask is against the rules or not so without going into details if you were looking for some one to help you craft a character who has no model as of yet would it be against the rules to ask for help?

This depends on what you're asking.

If you're asking about this within-the-rules, if a character (or anything: wargear, vehicle, etc.) exists in your codex and there is no model for it, that's the fun of the hobby...you get to model it yourself, using kit-bashing, green stuff, a Dremel, etc. You can even do this for characters that do have existing models, provided their wargear is adequately reflected. For instance, for a long while I ran a Calgar counts-as for a non-Ultramarines force. One model in power armor, gold bits and decorations, two power fists, an iron halo, and I carved up two boltguns and grafted them to his fists for the whole "integrated storm bolters" part of "the gauntlets of Ultramar".

If you are asking about molding your own minis out of melted plastic, you can expect an uncomfortable visit from Inquisitor Respondi.

basically here is the thing I play mortifactors in warriors of ultramar there is an absolutely awesome description of lord Magyar....however the description also shows how detailed and unique his armor is and honestly short of greenstuffing most of it I don't really see how I could do it any where near justice with using bits just on their own
Hip chapter choice. Some of the metal models in the Vanguard or either of the Veterans kits might suit you for this purpose, requiring less further decorating (you could add purity seals to your heart's content and enjoy all of the gold chains/tapestries/etc already on the model). Certainly molding good looking armor with greenstuff is an advanced move (beyond me, for sure...I just use it to fill in cracks and bump up my bases), so this is the route I would go. Check out the Vets on the GW site and see if any of their armor suits you. Often one or both of the weapon arms are not attached. In all cases you can dremel off an army you don't like. ;)

I dont think he was in terminator armour so I would use the Legion of the Damned models to get the boneish look to the armour as a base.

Exactly what I'd suggest - use a LotD model as the base and move on from there. Careful about picking one with alot of flames on it, though, as filing or dremmeling the detail off would be a royal pain in the arse. :)

I would suggest using this guy as the base model: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/...dId=prod380007a This will give you the ribs on the chest plate, as for the rest of the armour in bone I would just paint it in Bleached bone. For the scythe you can try and make one or ask your local Empire player if he has one spare he would be willing to trade.

Nice to see a fellow Mortifactors player. I built my Lord Magyar on a Chaplain frame. The book describes him as having bone armor, so I used the chaplain with the rib cage. Here's a pic (not quite finished) of my version.

That scythe what did you use to make it?

The scythe is from a Warmachine Cryx unit. I cut the crozius head off, and added the scythe top with a bit of green stuff to build the joint up a bit.

As previously mentioned, the Legion of the Damned suit the Mortifactors very well. I am going to be using the models as the honour guard as well as fleshing out units with cool looking sculpts, for example, the flamer carrying legionnaire is a member of my assault squad. I will say that the flames were a chore to take off. I don't have a dremel, so I ended up doing it with a knife and a small file set.
