Brother Ambroz
I'm looking into what units to buy next, already have essentially all the Khorne units I will ever need. I'm looking at flamers or fiends next though. Brings me to my question, with flamers how do you use them? Try to deepstrike them close enough to use their breath first turn? Or would you deepstrike a little ways away and warpfire first turn then if they survive move up and breath something? Then moving on to fiends, do you find these guys very survivable? It seems to me they're just too easy to kill for how expensive they are. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234053-daemonic-strategies/ Share on other sites
Seahawk
I love both units, and usually take one maxed unit of Flamers and two of Fiends. Flamers, used stupidly, can be dropped in 3 man units to flame something and die. This is usually so ineffective it isn't even worth the effort (and it's a free kill point to boot). I prefer larger units, dropped further away. They are Jump Infantry, and can easily close the distance to flame something. Dumping 30-40 hits that ignore armor saves...kills most units. Also handy for stunning vehicles, as every turn they're not shooting is a win for you. Fiends, also due to their speed, can be dropped further and more safely away. They can catch almost anything on table, being beasts, and their 5 rending attacks each can take care of whatever they reach. Double wounds, easy cover, and never suffering instant death (except from GK) means they stick around long enough to cause damage, but only in max units of 6. I never take anything less unless it's a 1000 point game or something. minigun762
I'm a big fan of the flamers and I agree with Seahawk that suicide squads are a waste unless you're hard up for points. They actually form one of the better ranged anti-tank units out there simply because glancing a tank is usually enough to stop it from moving/shooting and that lets your assault units get up close to finish it off.
