vanguardwolf
i like the fluff on engir krakendoom. the combination armoured transport, bikes and jumppack's. but how should i use him? as logan, ragnar, of just kit out a wolflord. logan and ragnar have some nice rules, but a wolflord can be kitted out to my own flavour ragnar does not fit in engir's fluff logan is very good making WG in TDA, on bikes of with jumppack's troop's. something i think will fit the fluff of krakendoom just fine. bikers and jumppack's tanks for fast attack's TDA and jumppack's for boarding missions or would a nicely kitted lord work better? thaxx Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234058-engir-krakendoom-what-hq-to-use/ Share on other sites
Forté
Use your own creation. Much more satisfying. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234058-engir-krakendoom-what-hq-to-use/#findComment-2817919 Share on other sites
Union.Jack
I'd use a kitted out Lord on a bike. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234058-engir-krakendoom-what-hq-to-use/#findComment-2817922 Share on other sites
Vlk
I play Krakendoom's GC (used to play Bran Redmaw but although I tried to remain loyal to him, I felt slipping faster and faster to the practices of Engir Krakendoom), using a Lord on a bike. It seems to me like an obvious choice for Krakendoom and BOY am I having a blast :D Bike, TH/SS, RA, SotB. Expensive and not nearly as good as all those lord on giant squirrels you see nowadays but he's incredibly mobile and almost always manages to wreak havoc in virtually any part of the battlefield. and most importantly, he's just fun and makes Swiftclaws a lot more effective. Exactly the same as mine, 4 claws, power fist, melta gun, attack bike and a WG with a fist too. Gets into cc and smashed stuff to bits! Try putting in a priest aswell as it then makes the unit fearless and gives them preferred enemy :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234058-engir-krakendoom-what-hq-to-use/#findComment-2817982 Share on other sites
Sarapham
I use both a version with frost weapon on a bike and the usual toys, but I also have a counts as version of him with Logan rules. The latter I use to make an all TDA army which represents Engir together with his elite boarding party. Wysten
Aye, sometimes it is nessary for a wolf lord to adopt different tactics, having two models to repersent him on foot and on bike is probably the best way to do it. Simply because a wolf lord will always have most/all the tools at his disposal, or will improvise. That being said, I believe the army list is far more importent then the charcter, he should reflect the army, so think of what each wolf lord is famious for, an build a list to match that. After all, a army does not have to be all summerised in a leader, nor does it have to be in excess. That being said, Wolf Guard should definately not form Jumpack squads or bike squads, simply because the cost of them gets extremely silly very easily, aside from in mega sized games. The cost of each biker is around 2 swiftclaws before they are given their armiment. In this case, I believe a more standard, space wolves approch is favourable, but with a slight favouring of what he likes best. Many fast Rhinos packed with Grey hunters, with the ever eager wolves keeping up on bike and jumpack. Either with the lord in a rhino, fairly cheaply equipped with stormsheild and weapon of choice, or riding on the bike to serve as the anvil, with the following Grey Hunters to deliver the hammer in support of their leader. Perhaps a saga inkeeping with the fact he's likely to be shot at a lot. vanguardwolf
logan is not that good for my fluff, and after i tried to create a nice fluffy wolflord i discoverd an intresting thing(mabe known): a wolflord in runic-armour, SS and powerweapon is 165pt frost weapon 175 and a wolflord in TDA, SS is 165. so now my engir krakendoom wolf lord's i know saga of the bear is quite expensive, but on en model above 165 pts with T4 its a must have imho, specilally if he is kitted for CC(but with all those double st weapons around and ID weapons, and not to forget all above st 7 shooty things, i dont want to take the risk) engir on foot/transport/droppod:215 runic-armour SS frost-sprear wolftail talisman saga of the bear most likely in LR with a WG/priest and 8 to 10 GH engir on bike:250 runic-armour SS frost-sprear wolftail talisman saga of the bear bike 6 to 10 swiftclaws attacbike mabe a priest engir with jumppack: 240 runic-armour SS frost-sprear wolftail talisman saga of the bear jumppack 10 skyclaws mabe a priest engir on a TW is just not quite the fluff greets Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234058-engir-krakendoom-what-hq-to-use/#findComment-2818867 Share on other sites
Wysten
On foot guy: With runic armour, you may as well put in in a Rhino with the Hunters. No immediate charge, but that Land Raiders resources can be spent more efficently on providing other threats for them to deal with. Generally thats fair enough. Just with bikes you can't really take too many of them, they are not really a combat unit and are more of a bubble wrap unit to guide him in, or spilt off to shoot otherwise.
