Drop pod assembling question

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I got my hands on new drop pod (first drop pod ever, my wife bought it ^_^ ) So im now painting it and glueing it together. But before i started assembling i noticed that you are adviced with guide that comes with the pod to assemble it as for troops ? I was thinking is there somewhere a simple assembling guide to assemble it as for dreadnought? I know forgeworld has a dreadnought sized drop pods, but is it possible to make drop pod so i can field it with dreadnought.

I tested without the walls my dreadnought could possibly (not sure cause i havent assembled it full yet) atleast the base is okey with the bottom of pod size.

And while are at it Is there a way to assemble it so i can change it easily to travel troops and dreanought? Or does it matter whats inside pod.. i could just leave it empty inside and put troops / dreadnought inside it.. i tried to google these questions but i only found this http://www.heresy-online.net/forums/showthread.php?t=90431 ... and it requires vehicle bits and too much time so if u guys have any better knowlidge about this.

Glue the fins to the engine. Glue the base section with the doors together. Glue together the harness / center console. Do NOT glue those 3 assemblies together (the fins should push fit tightly to the base). You can twist the center console into the fins assembly (without glueing) to have the pod for troops, or remove it for a dread pod.

Very similar to winterdyne, I glued all but one fin to the turbine and the petals to the base. Basically my DP fits together like a puzzle - nice and snug. The reason I left one petal unglued is literally so the Dread can punch his way out (no way he'd fit through a door otherwise). Also helps me transform it to a wreck should it get blown up.

As for the troop harnesses, my plan was to magnet them in. Haven't yet as it's used for Dreads :)

I built my first drop pod recently and covered the whole process from start to end on my own blog. I did my research since I was going to be magnetising the doors, but you can skip that part of the tutorial if it doesn't suit you. It's a three part series and I cover some painting tips too in the end.

Hopefully this will help you get past some of the finer points most of us had to learn by mistake.
