The trouble with Death Guard...

got a few games coming up against some death guard players (the guys around me seem to love nurgle atm) and was wondering if anyone has played against them before? What kinda things should i look out for/ be wary of? i know they're pretty tough but im not sure how they'll want to use this in a game? what sort of tactics/ units are the hardest to deal with?

Plasma will be your best friend. S7 AP2 bypasses both their high toughness and their Feel no Pain. Missle Launcher spam is also decent for the same reason.

Combat is where they are the most durable. Just using math you need 36 attacks to get through one wound. That's just math though...

Powerfist is much better than Power Weapon against them.

Be aware of blight grenades, if you charge them you will not get +1 attack. Counterattack is better but means weathering the storm.

Vindicator was used the only time i encountered them, they where gone by turn 2, so not a lot of help.

a greater daemon was eaten by my thunder mounts and lone-wolf, didnt hut to much either that time even though the mounts where softened up by a flying dish sorcerer.

when in doubt field a vindicator or 2

Only thing better than 1 vindicating is 3

or charge 1 unit with 2 units.

then you will get through them easily

Don't do this. DG can me a tar pit. get close, rapid fire with you units (weight of fire) make sure you have a MG or a PG or two in them and whittle them down. Make then charge you so you get CA and your full attacks much better choice than tar pitting two units. Trust me I have played lots of DG

-Chaos is a short-range army, you can chose not to be, while still retaining melee superiority (Grey Hunters/Wolf Lords/TWC).

-Wreck any transports asap and pour the fire on the plaguers as they close in.

-Chaos anti-tank usually comes in the form of Obliterators or Meltagun squads, both can be handled well with proper deployment, target priority and movement.

-Pure Nurgle players usually rely on Princes/Lords + Plague Marines to handle close combat. TWC eats them up with a little support.

-Plague Marines that are dug in (in cover, holding objectives) are hard to shift, expect having to invest a lot of effort into removing them. Plan for this.

Alternatively you can reverse engineer this
