So I'm resurrecting an old project, and considering my failures to mold and cast on my own - I will poke around here and see if there's anyone to work with!

my epic fail cast...

Ooh, armourcast... now there's a golden oldie. :)

Never tried proper casting, so I can't help you there, brother. But I would suggest casting smaller pieces though. :P

yea the thing is actually completely separate . front toe, piston for toe, heel, piston for heel, lower leg, thigh, pistons for workings between the two from housing into thigh, groin, chest, head(s), shoulder(s), ranged weapon upper arm, ranged weapon lower arm, melee weapon upper arm, melee weapon lower arm... anyway you get the idea :)

Armourcast? Oh i was talking about the absinthe.. but I guess the titans inspire too :P

Are you using clear resin? If so you have to use a pressure chamber when casting or you will have bubbles everywhere. How old is your resin? Is it stored in a humidity controlled area? I'll see if I can dig up a link to some casting tutorials.

Well frater, your project seems interesting and skillfully worked out. Proper casting is a real job though and an excellent casting is the trademark of a pro. Talking about a pro (I mean you'll hardly need to remove moldlines) and fully able to cast knight models for he does so already (from a far less talented guy than you, though), I'd recommend historex society.

Mail here : historex@wanadoo.fr

Send me a PM if you need a push in french, I'll gladly help.

I didn't say it was close to your place, I just say this work is the best around.

A bit too early to put stuts IMHO, you should work your textures first (clean miliput angles the yellow-grey or brown one, not greenstuff of course, papersand finish all this...). Kay, I'm a bit of a perfectionnist... Believe me, it'll be waaaaaaay better if plasticard sheets do not show.

Hmmmm still IMHO, ther is some oddity (???) in having such a squared back with straight angles and rounded shoulderpads. Have a look at EPIC / Space Marine Knights.

yea, the shoulders are being squared off (they were the last piece started before project was halted due to work)

The strut was there to give some idea of being/design, as for the body it is filled and miliputted :P (now) along with the groin, legs, shins, and feet, I am still looking at finer detail but want to get the over all body, arms, and heads out of concept into base design so they can all progress in a detail growth together.

appreciated though. as it happens what is your opinion of the shield mounted on the left shoulder? keep it? ditch it? what do you think? wondering if basic design can go there instead or if the shield is a nice touch.

To answer your PM's question and as I said above, I suggest Yellow-Grey Milliput for all armor work, can be watered, smoothed with a brush, it's not elastic and that means clean surfaces and angles, no cooking, can be sanded...

Shoulder shield is quite a good idea, especially if its detachable and is treated like an accessory instead of an autocanon/missile launcher and things (like the little optics that goes on a dread main frame alongside a weapon arm).

"I am still looking at finer detail but want to get the over all body, arms, and heads out of concept into base design so they can all progress in a detail growth together."

That's good but it'll be harder to work surfaces with details & studs everywhere, so : surface first, then big add-ons, then details... As I see things

sounds good - searching for a good source for said yellow grey milliput, as for rivets I haven't touched it since for that reason, and infact actually removed a majority of them to smooth out completely first.

The shield will be a detachable accessory and will have plating on the other side with a slot area for it to sit in nice and neat should one want it. other modules may come later but for now, lets just get the base of the model done.

Weapon systems have always been a difficult subject to think about, I had been thinking a fusion lance & shield arm, chain blade, gauntlet, bombardment cannon, gatling. anyway, food for thought and not important yet!
