Hands of Dorn

Hey guys, I'm new to this site, though I know some of the WH40K universe and have played since the 5th edition Codex: Space Marines.

I'm a big fan of the Crimson Fists and have painted some marines in their colour scheme, but I want to make my own successor chapter of the Crimson Fists, before the Rynn's World incident.'

I was thinking of basing it on a Captain formerly of the Crimson Fists, who gained the honour and responsibility of training and leading a newly founded chapter, using gene-seed from the Crimson Fists (big supprise).

Which founding would be appropriate to use? 22th-26th?

The idea with the Captain, is that numb-nuts or plausible, etc, etc, etc.

Hope my post made any sense B)

I'd say have the founding before the 25+26th so that it is before the Rynn's World incident and the Hands of Dorn have a decent amount of past (approx. 1500 years) to allow you to write in a good amount of the chapter's exploits and how it has made them what they are today.

The Captain idea is perfectly plausible, it is often a leader of that calibre aongside a retinue of veterans that are given the honour of founding a new chapter. Although I've come under the impression that the Captain/Veteran chosen is often a "black sheep" within the chapter so he'd be better off goign his own way.

Also, since this is your first day here:

WELCOME TO THE BOLTER AND CHAINSWORD BROTHER!

I hope you enjoy oyur time here and also, welcome to the LIBER Astartes forum, home of all things DIY. The people here are all good and are very helpful in making your chapter one that is of a good quality. The DIY Guide is one of your best friends. ;)

Looking forward to seeing you grow your chapter. :(

You might have better luck explaining it as the 3rd or so founding. When the original legions split up, there was bound to be too many marines just to fit in the 3 original Dorn chapters (stay out of my history books Soul Drinkers!). When commanded by the High Lords to split, the original captian could represent the traits you wanted your original captain to have.

This would add a bit of delicious irony to the Crimson Fists' background. In the beginning they had too many marines to operate, now they struggle from so few numbers.
