Rob_Loken
Hello there, I was rooting round my bitz box when I came across this old fella. A DA banner bearer. He'd long lost his banner pole and was caked in several different paintjobs from my youth. I didn't think this was fair and so I gave him a bath and a shiny new sword and shield and set about giving him a makeover. This is the result. http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae63/Astartes_Loken/PICT2451.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae63/Astartes_Loken/PICT2452.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae63/Astartes_Loken/PICT2449.jpg All in all it was a good break from painting the Astral Claws so I didn't burn out, so to speak. Cheers for looking, Rob Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234539-dark-angels-captain/ Share on other sites

Watcher in the Dark
Very nice job. I found that every once in a while painting a one off miniature of something different really helps keep your skillset and creativity up. I suggest it to anyone who is painting many models at a time to take a break every once in a while and do something slightly different. Rob_Loken
Thank folks, the sword was painted by starting with chaos black and blending through regal blue, then up to Mordian blue. Then I mixed in some Skull White, then I glazed the blade with Leviathan Purple and let that dry. My final glaze was of Asurman Blue to tone down the purple but keep a tint of it. Sorry it's probably not the best explanation but I was doing it on the fly and just seeing what worked. : ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234539-dark-angels-captain/#findComment-2824028 Share on other sites
Brother_Fatiswon
ah Bethor (sp) how long has it been since you led my fangs of the snake dIY chapter from the 3rd edition.. very good use of the model sIr. I pretty much did the same but used a sword blade as a pole arm on my model back in the late 90's good to see the model again! Dorns Padawan
Very nicely painted, I especially like how well you have painted the sword - I like the effect you have got with the darker colours there. Isiah
Nice DA. Great to see an old model given a new lease of life. I like the robe treatment (the deep shadows) and the colouration of the armour . Olis
Very nicely done, brother. Liking the sword's paintjob and the way the old model looks fresh given a couple of newer parts.
