Grimtooth
Can anyone see the yellow color to these eyes? I think I can see it, but maybe because I put it on I am playing tricks on my own eyes. http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s89/Grimtooth_photos/2011-07-20_00-30-15_290.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234587-painting-and-conversions/ Share on other sites

Grimtooth
Up way too late painting two meltagunners. The picture blurs them out a bit as they really are pretty small on the model and not quite as visible. Grimtooth
Look good to me. I've been trying to do yellow eyes myself post P.Burns. What is your recipe? Skull white and a watered, watered down sunburst yellow. You don't even want to brush on the sunburst, but more of let it flow off the brush onto the skull white. I think the watered down yellow is letting enough of the skull white through to give the glowing effect. I think the watered down yellow is letting enough of the skull white through to give the glowing effect. I was planning on doing this for my Mark of the Wulfen guys, of which I am just about to start painting the first one. I'll remember this recipe, thanks Ramses! In general, do you get better results from a yellow colour if you put white underneath first? I've disappointing results whenever I tried yellow. Anything light over white is like anything light over black. In this case I am not looking for getting a solid yellow over the white, I am looking to just tint the white yellow which results in the glowy eye effect. Some of the best yellows I have seen are from Imperial Fists players. They flat out know how to paint yellow and know the base best set to do it. I don't use any Bloodvlaws but if I were, I would check out an Imperial Fists tutorial just to do that single shoulder pad. Grimtooth
Pupils? :P Not yet. I need to find some toothpicks as I just recently ran out and instead bought a bunch of the dental floss style toothpicks instead. The pupil is going to barely register so will be the barest of a speck that I can put on. Will likely go with one of the lighter browns to keep the pupil vastly separate from the yellow as that has been described in the HH books. Almost like this; http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s89/Grimtooth_photos/wolf_eyes_by_CyrusLoneWolf.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234587-painting-and-conversions/#findComment-2824441 Share on other sites

Grimtooth
There is a Mercenary Market type deal at the end of the month at my LFGS and I hope to pick up more of those weapons to flush out not just my special ranged weapons but also my regular bolter toting GH. red_starrise
Looks good, I was thinking of doing something similar myself but I was wondering where to get axes in bulk on the cheap. Grimtooth
So finally getting off my arse to actually finish painting my army hopefully by September. Been working on this GH pack; http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s89/Grimtooth_photos/2011-07-21_23-25-18_202.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s89/Grimtooth_photos/2011-07-21_23-26-00_140.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s89/Grimtooth_photos/2011-07-21_23-27-25_516.jpg Pics from my Droid and I don't have the right light or background, but will get them up on my blog with the good camera tomorrow. Almost finished up with last two and then need to do some conversion work for a standard bearer.
