This is actually primarily for Oli's enjoyment, and Kudo's

I will add a step by step how to with the second one I build as I am happy with how this has turned out.

1 x gatling psy bolter ammo storage and 2 feeds from the dreadknight greyknight kit

1 x storage box with aquilla on top from the imperial guard tank accessories sprue.

non GW

1 x sheet 1.5 mm plastic card

1 x sheet 1.0 mm plastic card

1 x sheet 0.5 mm plastic card

1 x length of 1.0 mm long round rod plastic card

1 x length of hollow 4.0 mm long round rod plastic card

1 x length of hollow 8.0 mm long round rod plastic card

2 x length of 1.0 mm wide by 0.5 mm deep plastic card strip (looks like a long flattened rod)

pack of 1.0 mm metal beads (ebay for like £2) *contained 1000*

aaand galeforce 9 stupidly big pot of high quality super glue

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8435.jpg

**larger quantities of the rod and non sheet plastic card stuffs needed obviously :P** (note the fact I'm missing the second dreadknight psycannon ammo box and feeds :o *HELP!* )

I used an xacto scalpel , fine diamond edged file (flat and low curve topped alternate side), and an eyelet puncher (used often to put rivet eyelets in clothing/cloth for laces etc) *and accidentally caught the webbing of my hand between forefinger and thumb with the latch!! ouch times!* :(

---------------------------------------

Working on the Tutorial piece now so will take a while, paint & no working tablet to draw on pics = slow times!

If I had even a quarter of your plasicard skills, I would have built a household of Knight Titans by now, lol. Great job, bro, looks awesome!

did a large order via a university of england art department supplier and got a good deal, ended up with something like 5m x 5m of various sheeting - 0.5/1.0/1.5/2.0/3.0/5.0 card and assorted rods/etc, pretty good! I would visit your local university or art college and talk to the department of supplies, they can usually help!

Really neat plasticard work. Infact once it's painted you wouldn't be able to tell it's done with plasticard at all.

If I did have one criticism, it is that I would have used round drum ammo hoppers. But that's just personal taste.

Well done! ^_^

I was actually considering doing round drums but didn't like how the belts looked from the drums to the cannons (from back to front) I had made the belts and drums but meh, and really really hated how they looked mounted underneath the shoulder joint, looked too weird. I am however considering adding ejection ports on either side, currently sculpting muzzle flare to see how that will look when its all together. but yea, ejection ports or no?

quick comparison between the FW weapon arm and this -

(Oli's pic)

the auto cannon

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8433.jpg

*just noticed I need to add rivets to the brace just under the shoulder block* which also needs to be made smaller (may just do a greenstuff press mould of the shoulder insert and attach to that)

Added flash hider - (may add ejected shell cases if I add the weapon flare on the made contemptor)

Wow, that's really an awesome work. Can't wait to see it on the contemptor !

I'm currently building a Rifleman, and was thinking about transforming a contemptor for a second rifleman...

I may end stealing your work (with less skill, I'm afraid)^^

cheers guys <_< I had to just spend £4 on the ammo store and belt feeds on bitzuk....ouch  should be here soon hopefully though so I can do the Tutorial.

by the way, the breaching drill for the dread fits the circular fitting for the Contemptor, just incase you wanted one .

May have to make a whole plethora of fittings for this bad boy from scratch and see about casting them.

There will be a Tutorial complete with full measurements and cutting diagrams, I may even make a papercraft cutout so you can all print it and just hold it over the right grade plastic card and cut! simples! sneefsneef!

on a quick other note. I had a dream about a games day entry, I need 1000 necron scarabs... if anyone has watched the anime "Vexile" or if not, go watch it online somewhere. there are massive mechanical robotrash dune worms, very tempted to make one and sculptscratch a ctan god in the middle of it diving through a dune through an IG tank line. (one russ stripped bare with its armour cladding added to the whirling doom worm, with its interior left in wake still scolding with the bodies of its passengers stripped bare, some still being carried on by the godmess. parts of chimera in the mass being stripped. also if you have seen transformers 2, where that big thing sucks up sand, have the massive godwormdeathmegawow sucking up sand in front of it as it moves. SOooooo anyone got a bucketload of scarabs to trade? <_<

So earlier I mentioned a Tutorial - this is a work in progress Tut as I am still waiting for the ammo box and feeds to arrive! heres what we have so far.. and about 40 pics

1. Cut a length of the 5mm Diameter tube 6mm long, you will want to file down each end to be flush and level (it should measure 5mm in total once filed, if worried initially cut 7mm)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8440.jpg

2. You will want a length of 1mm wide by 0.5mm deep card (I have bought this as a pack of strips but if you are able to cut an exact length from a sheet then do so)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8443.jpg

3. you will then take the strip, glue to the tube we cut and wrap around once, gluing and cutting to fit, do not worry if this is exact as the second wrap is what matters.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8452.jpg

4. We are going to repeat step 2 but placing the start just over the join that was created so we wrap our strip over it sealing it. we want this part to be as near to exact as possible so wrap first then cut (cut a little too long so you don't cut too short straight away) once done, apply glue and wrap around slowly, hold in place until sealed (i then apply glue to the end to seal all layers together and fill gaps then file gently to make flush.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8454.jpg

5. we now want to cut dozens of strip about 5mm long, we are going to lay this around the tube as though to appear like rail way sleeper logs, T boned to the ring we made.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8463.jpg

6. simply wrap a strip around the adjacent end similar to step 3, Be precise, and be sure to seal the end after (use putty if you wish but glue and a file down will fill the tiny gaps)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8470.jpg

7. Take a cutting 5mm wide from your 8mm Dia tube, you will then want to cut down the segment we made twice, leaving a straight 5mm line between the two cuts (please note the picture is the left over from the segment being used

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8472.jpg

8. we want to then glue this directly back to the tube, and in your case onto the left over excess from the two incisions.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8473.jpg

9. once dry cut and file down so that we have one flush curve, with a 5mm gap between each inner point (use step 7 as reference) then apply glue to our curve and push - hold onto our circular elbow hub.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8475.jpg

10 . using a hole puncher, cut two 5mm disks

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8476.jpg

11. and apply to our elbow-shoulder hub

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8477.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8478.jpg

12. taking our 8mm dia tube, ensure the end is flush, and glue to a 1mm sheet of plastic

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8479.jpg

13. proceed to cut out around the tube once dry

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8480.jpg

14. and then cut down the tube leaving yourself a 3mm closed end of tube, you will want to then file down to leave a total of 2mm

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8481.jpg

15. on the closed end, we want to file an indent with a round back flat file, and then attach our elbow-shoulder hub to the disc where the indent was made (open end away from the hub)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8482.jpg

16. next is the housing for the shoulder hub, take an ammo storage box from the imperial guard tank sprue and file down on all sides to flush.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8483.jpg

17. cut across the box 10mm down so that you are left with a 10mm long scoop

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8484.jpg

18. slice in half and glue in a 1mm sheet of plastic then attach the other side carefully

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8485.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8486.jpg

19. take your 1mm x 0.5mm strip of plastic from earlier stages and apply around the lip of the box (doubled up so that your strip 1mm x 1mm) leaving a gap in the middle on the closed side (use plastic insert as guide)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8488.jpg

20. then cut neatly a diagonal line away from the middle white line of the box on each newly added strip, cut and clean off excess sticking out from the box on outside

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8489.jpg

21. repeat application of strip down both sides of the box and cut neatly so flush, then glue a square of 2mm sheet to the end of the box to close the end.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8490.jpg

((place your shoulder joint inside the box to ensure a fit is possible (it should be snug but not too tight))

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8492.jpg

22. now cut yourself about 25mm of 5mm wide by 25mm long plastic card (1mm depth) and cut to measure equally to each side of the box (these should be 12mm)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8493.jpg

23. taking our hole punch again, apply the 5mm punch to each of these strips, leaving 2mm from the end and 3mm from the top

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8494.jpg

24. with the excess strip from previous stage, apply to the grey end of our box, sitting flush against the bottom but leaving a 1mm gap between each other in the middle then cutting flush at each side

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8495.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8496.jpg

25. now cut yourself two small 1mm by 2mm pieces of 1mm deep card and apply above the two squares added

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8497.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8498.jpg

26. then glue to each side, making sure the cut holes closer to our newest additions

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8499.jpg

So far we should look something like this

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8500.jpg

27. now using the punch tool, cut out two 4mm disks and glue into the two open circular sockets, then stamp out two 3mm disks and glue into place on top again.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8501.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8502.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8503.jpg

28. now we move onto the weapons, take your imperial guard weapon team auto cannon, then cut away from the chassis of the weapon where the tube of the Barrel ends just after the two rings, also, leaving the prong that holds the rail in place, remove the rail between the bar and main weapon chassis

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8504.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8505.jpg

29. now cut the barrel off, and 5mm down cut another line out leaving us a 5mm long segment, throw this away!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8506.jpg

30. file and glue both parts together as though the segment was not there

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8507.jpg

31. then attach to our box

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8508.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8516.jpg

Please, please, please tell me you're an engineering student or some kind of architectural wiz, because I just can't live knowing I'm this outclassed by somebody who just 'picks it up and practices'. Great work, mate, may your scratchbuilt Warlords be sturdy and safe from Vortex templates.
