Edit: so as stated in the rename, the Cobras go with the associated Cruisers/Battlecruiser/Battle Barge as units in descending order. That's a great deal more torpedoes, so hopefully this revision will help my fleet's firepower.

I'm a little confused by how you have things broken down. If by goes with you mean the Gladii are squadroned with the cruisers and BB, then you are trying to do something illegal. This is because escorts can only squadron with other escorts while the other classes have different restrictions. If you are saying the squadron of two or three escorts stays near the cruisers, then that's fine.

I would suggest that you run three squadrons of three gladii or one squadron of 5 and one of 4. A squadron of two escorts will very rarely have enough firepower to contribute. The minimum you should run is squadrons of three. It gives enough firepower to help finish off ships your line hits but not enough to take on an undamaged cruiser. Larger squadrons like 5 or 6 typically have the speed and firepower to attack healthier capital ships although you should expect quick retaliation.

I would also keep the torpedoes. You are pretty light on AC for a 1500 point fleet as it is. Removing the only other ordnance you have would give your opponent more control than he already has in the ordnance war. One NC really won't help much but the s6 torpedoes will put another marker on the table for your opponent to intercept or avoid.

Thanks for the swift reply.

The Gladius squadrons would be just that, set up to run interception duty for the larger ships; basically, they're screeners, or proper escorts, during patrols.

During combat, I would think they would fly where needed to take out whatever they need to. I'm not entirely up to par on what/how to run the escorts during games.

The additional torpedoes works; seeing as a single NC isn't good, according to another player I spoke with yesterday.
