SirDuck13
So I'm interested in running a Reclusiarch as the head of my 2k Blood Angels army. The catch is, I don't much care for the finecast models I've bought so far and I like the idea of a custom model for this guy. I was curious if anyone else had done such a conversion and what bits might be used to make the skull helmet and the crozarius' head? Any advice? Hyaenidae
The Legion of the Damned models have quite a few skull helmed Marines that are just perfect for a Chaplain scratch-build. Here's mine... A little green stuff filling, and a few purity seals, and voila! SirDuck13
That does look like what I had in mind. The only thing I'm curious about is do the Legion of the Damned come in one solid piece or are the arms separate. Also, what bits would be used to make a corzarius that would be good substitute for the finecast/metal ones. Venerable Jazzman
I used a spare AoBR Termi Sarge, and the Empire General banner and bits. And the stormbolter from a Rhino. Scroll/loincloth is just some thick art paper chopped into shape and strengthened with PVA. It's maybe slighty OTT, but I like it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v110/fatjazzer/ChaplainBatt2.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v110/fatjazzer/ChaplainBatt1.jpg Sorry about the crapola photos Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234645-diy-chaplainsreclusiarchs/#findComment-2824989 Share on other sites

I think there are some photos of the parts they come with in the Sprue thread in this forum. [Edit] page 8 and about half way down the page in that thread. darth_giles
I don't have a pic on hand of one, but you can get a perfectly good chaplain helm by "de-bunnifying" one of the helms on the Khorne Berzerker sprue. You can also make a good Crozius arm by choping the blade off one of the chainaxes and then attaching one of the tops of the banner poles from the command squad box. From those two, all you need is the matching bolt pistol arm and a plastic Marine to finish off your chappy. Edit: Here's a series of pics I made illustrating what I did to make a proof-of-concept plastic chaplain. Since I have a lot of BA bitz floating around, he's going to be a BA chaplain although this can also work for any other chapter, or a Dark Apostle if you play Word Bearers. Here's the helmet shown on the Khorne Berzerker sprue. Step 1: Dry fit. This also shows what things look like after you perform the Rituals of De-Bunnification. You might want to trim the plastic around the helm a bit more; this was just a quick proof of concept. Step 2: I used a Thunder Hammer that I found on the Death Company sprue instead of a Chainaxe. If you play with WYSIWYG jerks, glue a bolt pistol holster to his belt and there's his pistol. I chopped the front and back of the hammer off, leaving a nice pole-like structure. This particular thunder hammer is two-handed, although I know there are some one-handed ones out there. Step 3: Attach the banner pole topper. There's one on the Sanguinary Guard sprue, but I just happened to have this one on hand. If you're doing this for the Golden Demon or a similar competition, you'll want to fill the gap with a little GS, and probably pin everything together. Since this was a quick proof-of-concept, I didn't bother with it. Step 4: Add a few more bitz... (Sorry, no pic this time- do you really want a step-by-step on the Sanguinary Guard jump pack and how to attach shoulder pads?). This is also where you attach stuff like a Rosarius, scroll tubes, relicas from various sprues, and all that. There's a plastic ton of good accessories out there, so go as wild or conservative as you want. Step 5: And here is our finished chaplain ready to kick some serious butt! Firedrake Cordova
As an alternative to the Khorne Berserker head, you could use the standard Chaos Space Marine "skull" head: http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/product_info.php/...rine-head-p-326 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234645-diy-chaplainsreclusiarchs/#findComment-2825197 Share on other sites
SirDuck13
Thanks for the replies, guys. I think I have some khorne berserker sprues laying around somewhere. I'll have to have peek around and make sure but that'll work just about perfect. Especially if I've already got some here in the house. I've been searching through other threads and trying to find a good replacement for the head of the crozarius and it looks like the best so far is the aquila bit you find in some terminator sprues and the command sprue. I'll post pics when I start my conversion. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234645-diy-chaplainsreclusiarchs/#findComment-2825213 Share on other sites

Anyway, here is the link to a guy's blog that made him and how he was doing it. Also, underthecouch.net has some great ideas you might want to check out, just to get your inspiration from.... darth_giles
Looks like he had a fair few of the same ideas that I did, although his GS work is a helluva lot better. ron
I'm glad you guys like the Chaplain there and I appreciate the kind words. He's a bit of work though. The head was fairly easy if you have a spare skull and a spare regular helmet lying around. If you're looking for the link to the helmet tutorial, there are two of them that I have: Power armoured skull helmet Terminator armoured skull helmet Thanks guys! And the power armoured link has another Chaplain I did for someone else too!
