Need advice on planned pre-heresy BA army!

Hi all,

I am planning a (pre-) heresy Blood Angels Army. I am a Fantasy player, but have been peripherally into 40K since its inception back in the RT days. So my question is this; what are the big no-no's when putting together the army? I am thinking about such things as armour and helmet variants, which weapons were used/not used by the chapter, iconography and vehicle versions... Which versions/marks were positively not used?

I know there will be no Black Rage or Death company, but that's about it!

I Also plan on using robed DA veteran bodies for a unit or two, would that be ok?

And lastly; does anybody have a link or two to inspirational BA paint schemes? I am currently trawling through Coolminiornot, which has loads of nice pics.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Martin

Basically, look at the CSM codex - any weapons/vehicles there were not around at the heresy.

No:

- razorbacks

- infantry mounted plasma cannons

- I am unsure if the Baal pettern predator had been discovered by then, but it might have been

- no crusaders or redeemers

- Vindicators are up to you- initially, the werent around then, but the last CSM codex retconned the fluff to say that they were - although they had a 'conqueror' cannon, instead of the deolishor, iirc.

In terms of armour, anything barring Mk7 and 8 should be alright, corvus armour (beaky) was definitely in use by then.

- Iconography is generally the same, no red saltires, though.

- re-name all special characters / use mephiston as sanguinius?

- Librarians were known to be used by the BA, although there was not a specific librarium organisation, as this was banned by the Emperor.
