Techmarine and ICs

Please have a look at the IC rulesection of the BRB. IC can't join units of one model but are allowed to join other IC. So you can have one unit which only consists of for example 5 IC.

Thank you, but please have a look at my question before answering it:

I know ICs can't join units of one model, but the Techmarine can have servitors..

So technically he can be a unit of more than one model if you add a servitor.

If you read what it actually says though, rather than what you think it says, it states "they cannot join...units that always consist of a single model". A techmarine is not a unit that always consists of a single model, as he can have servitors, and therefore an IC can join.

This opens up for some interesting options when it comes to mech BA lists. Why did this topic suddenly die?

Remember that all the buffs from special or elite characters affect "friendly units" no second guessing on what constitutes a blood angels as it was with the old PDF codex. So both Techmarine and servitors will benefit from FC, FNP and liturgies oB. Not to mention all the psychic powers.

Ranged servitors are horribly overpriced but the servo arm ones are not too bad considering the price. Biggest problem as I see it is the inability to buy a dedicated transport.
