Enzephalon
Hi guys, Todays upload is my recently finished Sanguinary Priest and his buddy... the leader of my DC. Of course... There is no such thing as a leader of a squad of DC, rulewise. But I like the idea that a bunch of crazy nuts is lead into field by a even bigger maniac, refusing to die in several battles. ^^ Btw. The priest was a royal pain to paint. I really suck at painting this bone colour on the flat parts of the armour. Took me ages to get it right without major streaks from the brush, but I'm still not happy. Another sidenote. The priest is one rare model in my growing army with no major conversion done. Besides the little chalice on his backpack. Fluff wise he carries a chalice with him but I do not like the idea or holding a oversized chalice in his hand like Corbulo. It is just silly to go to war with a cup in your hand. Last thing to say. The banner will get a free hand motif if once I will acquire enough skill to do one. Enjoy... And do not hold back any comments or critic... I suck at painting faces too. If you have a close look you can see that the eyes of the DC guy look kinda weird. I'm really glad that he is wearing a hood. ^^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234668-sanguinary-priest-and-dc-squad-leader/ Share on other sites
catharsix
Your painting is very well done (better than mine) but I have to nit-pick a couple points of design. The Priest lacks any specifically Sanguinary Priest bits, so he could be any squad sargeant (or trooper even, lacking any special weapons). On mine, I have an Apothacary Narcethium (sp?) as his left arm, and he's holding up a Red Grail (though I opted not to have him wearing an Apothecary helmet). As for the DC guy, I like him, but why does he have a Ravenwing Mechanicus shoulderpad? It just seems out of place and jarring on an otherwise very well-done mini. I like his back banner - are you planning on putting anything on the large parchment-colored area? Enzephalon
I really appreciate your comment. Speaking about the Sanguinary Priest. He has a little chalice on top and hanging from his backpack. There is a grail on both of his shoulder pads and one on his girdle. So 5 grails on one model. ^^ As I mentioned, I do not want him to carry another one in his hand because I think it's silly. Concerning his equipment. I want him to be WYSIWYG and I do not give him any additional wargear because there is no sense it. I do not want to have him in close combat and the rest of his squad is responsible for the shooting. Leaving him with a chainsword and a bolt pistol. The banner will get a free hand as I mentioned in my frist post. Concerning his shoulder pad. I found this in my bits-box and it fits the hood he is wearing. ; ) This is no official fluff, and there is nothing in the rules, but my DC has a squad leader and he is represented by wearing a cool hood. So I decided to give him this shoulder pad. ; ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234668-sanguinary-priest-and-dc-squad-leader/#findComment-2825645 Share on other sites
