Elric the Silvercoat
I was thinking of using two Rune Priest, a Wolf Priest and maybe Blackmane. The Rune Priests will be in Rhinos with two Grey Hunters squads and the Wolf Priest and Blackmane with a Wolf Guard in TDA squad or another Grey Hunters squad in a Land Raider. All of this in a 2500 point army so I was wondering if it will be compertive enough. Grimtooth
Our Leaders of the Pack rule really shines at 2500pts. I see no problem with that load out for HQ at 2500pts. Solid combination of close combat and psychic defense/offense to support your Grey Hunters. red_starrise
Just a thought, Blackmane & a Wolf Priest make Blood Claws an outright nasty assault unit. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234687-hqs-for-an-army/#findComment-2825909 Share on other sites
Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
i think a Rags+Wolf Priest+Grey Hunters would be more effective then using Blood Claws. however, i can remember a few times in the Rag books, in the short instances of him as a Wolf Lord, he fought supporting Blood Claw packs. vanguardwolf
if you take ragnar take 10 WG with FW. combined with FC st6 i5, you have 4 to 6 attcs for the WG at 6 to 8 for ragnar(i6) and 4 to 6 for the priest. so the minimum is 50 attack's, with reroll then tweak down to reduce overkill and points expence greets Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234687-hqs-for-an-army/#findComment-2826071 Share on other sites
Mr. Danvers
I always seem to end up tooling mine up too much a lot of the time, so at the moment I'm trying to keep their points cost down. Seeing how much a JP Wolf Lord (JP,FW,SB,BoR,SoWB) with JP WG squad was an interesting experience.....about 500 points and would probably get shot to bits within one turn. Rune Priests seem to be a good choice, as you only really have to pay 100 for the first one, then 110 for the 2nd with the Chooser of the Slain to keep them different. Wolf Priests in BC squads work well, I use that option quite a lot. I just give the WP a plasma pistol to help out on tougher infantry, then just jam them in with a PF, flamer and rerolls in CC. It's not going to steamroller your opponent, but it's fairly cheap points wise. I'm currently of the attitude of playing a 'reactive' HQ in my army, rather than one I just chuck forward as quick as possible. Mainly as they have a lot of attacks anyway and will gain the charge attacks from being charged regardless. As a result, I've been looking at stuff like stormbolters/combi-weapons on my HQs to try and shoot stuff at short range and make my opponent charge towards me rather than the usual tactic of me legging it across the board as quick as possible. That usually results in me being all over the place and out of posistion. Elric the Silvercoat
I was thinking Grey Knights because with a Banner with a Wolf Priest and Blackmane on a turn you charged........that would be a very hard hitting squad Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234687-hqs-for-an-army/#findComment-2826625 Share on other sites
