Chapter Master Kanithon
Maybe one glaze potentionally as I can see the blue tint on the unweathered leg but I think it gets lost a bit with all the weather as the weathering quite dark. Does thar help at all? Looking at your test model would be quite cool, have a feeling my paint scheme for the executioners is a little simple compared to yours.I baseboat with boltgun metal and then give a couple of washes of enchanted blue and then highlight. Thanks for the run down on the weathering, can't decide if I want to weather mine yet. Also, what's this Vallejo Metal medium? Is it like a wash designed for metalics? Khargan
Metal medium is basically an off white metal  so awesome for highlighting metal and glint/sheen, but I use it in glazes and mixing with boltgun to get a better highlight colour than the crappy chain and myth test subject http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8702.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8703.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8704.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8705.jpg
Chapter Master Kanithon
See that's the metalic blue that I had in mind when I think of the Executioners! I do really like the weathering you've done on your contemptor though so maybe a blue glaze or something to give it a bit more blue as I think that the blue metalic scheme is what makes the Executioners stand out... That and the amazing background

Chapter Master Kanithon
I really like it with the single blue glaze. You've set a high standard Khargan! Think I'm gunna have to up my game and paint another test model to compete with this. I really do like your weathering and the metalic shade you got going on. Thumbs up

Chapter Master Kanithon
Well, I'll have my new test model doing by sunday. Then I've just got to paint the rest, already got 2 tactical squads assembled. So a joint blog could be quite possible... :)
Khargan
All I have for my set so far is the contemptor, the WIP Deathspeaker, a whirlwind Tarantula, 5 marines ( probably a veteran combat squad) and a rhino, Still trying to trade off a crap load of stuff on 40k online forums to fund this work :) moving and girlfriend unfortunately prevent the purcahse of new toys (I lied and told her the contemptor was a gift ;) ) lol!! Anyway, More of the death speaker and seeking advice A http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8713.jpg B http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8715.jpg C http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8699.jpg need to choose one head that will get the half skull greenstuff treatment, what do you recon looks like the best candidate? Hyaenidae
You probably won't like this, but I like it as is, almost like it was built like that and imprinted in the bare armour. It looks subtle, yet striking.
Khargan
you think I should just highlight it and damage it and leave as is? that isn't a half bad idea and I can cover it in muck happily
Hyaenidae
Yep. Make it look like it was cast right into the leg when it was forged. That'd look gnarly.

Highlight, battle damage, done. The metals look fantastic by the way. I bought a bottle of metal medium last week and now I know how to use it thanks to you. Khargan
Its honestly a pleasure to be able to give people inspiration and help from the work one does and infact am greatful to all the gamers/painters that create blogs here :P on the note of the skull, its done! however a bad thing has happened, the bloody loin cloth for the contemptor has gone walk abouts! ;)
Khargan
I do have a question to the community about the Contemptor and infact about the entire army.. I never thought about the terrain and colour, I intend to Mig the boots and crevices up but in what colour? choice of rust orange, rust brown, brown, khaki green, urban rubble or rock rubble (both are shades like light khaki) let me know what you think
Slyen
What were you originally going to go for base wise? It looks as if you were going to go for a kinda wasteland battlefield. I'd say if you are going that route something dusty... khaki, brown, a mix of the two.
Khargan
I honestly dont know really, it could have been wasteland, it could have been outer urban, hell it could be alien world orange, dont know, I would like something that will compliment the model colour scheme when grimed up around the legs.
