Chapter Master Kanithon
If you want a colour that stands out, I think you should try the orange, although wouldn't you have to be careful it didn't end up looking like rust? I think any of them will stand out as they're all brownish and most of the model will have black or blue in the recesses.
Khargan
as promised, the altered skull relief! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8717.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8718.jpg this was boltgunned, then highlighted with metal medium, streaked for scratches then wash streaks of devlan mud down the skull then a light glazing of sepia around that, two cover glazes of asureman blue were applied and cleaned up to be even and then a final dot highlighting of metal medium to finish. Khargan
so I've been sitting here painting the knee pad and groin protection over a time period of two hours.. damn you Michael Mcintyre!! I am still looking for some input as to terrain colour and think about it in terms of complimentary colours, what will make the paint scheme stand out (really don't want some dull drab brown) Alllllso I am trying to decide on pure silver bolts or bronze with verdegris rusting.. what say you? Chapter Master Kanithon
If you're looking for complimentries... Orange is the complimentry of blue so that could work. I think the bolts could be painted bronze with verdegris as that'd fit in more with the whole weathering thing.
Khargan
do you not thing verdegris would appear pretentcious or OTT with the all the other weathering? or do you think it would just fit right on?
Khargan
more on the groin and hip now, although I am not happy with the groin plate damaging, as it needs to be more subtle on its lower highlighting, will edit this after I am back from the sushi bar! I am however very happy with the hip joint! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8719.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8721.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/argosis101/DSCF8720.jpg
ephrael
The skull on the leg looks perfect, nice job there. I'd go with the bronze and verdigris on the studs as I think it will go well with the other weathering.

Lorenzen
those metallics are indeed rather nice, its always good to see somebody tackle a colour that so many people just take a drybrush to, its a shame that most of us badabians live so far apart.. i think me, you, hushrong and machinepriest could make for some epic looking battles. Khargan
Drybrushing is a sin, emperor protect me for uttering such foul words.. Bud I do agree that all of our forces on a field would be epic. maybe something we could arrange one day? :P
Lorenzen
agreed, find a location closest to the majority of us and take it over for a day of violently pummeling each other to death with rusty spoons.. and then play some 40k! out of curisosity how much brigher is metal medium than vallejos "silver"? Im looking to increase the overall contrast of my fire angels atm. also any suggestions on "bare metal" would be appreciated, my own attempts constantly have me shouting at them. Khargan
metal medium is basically white metal literally.. ergo why I never use it straight as a colour, either as a glaze or light dot lining/edge dotting :cuss mix it with something more metalic and use it in streaks to get some more metalic sheen with dots of it at the edge and tone change points to get a real pure metal glint going on :) if that doesn't make sense then I will paint something for ya
Lorenzen
i think that roughly makes sense.. however id still like to see your take on a fire angel.. same as machinepriest.. paint slave paint!!! :cuss

Olis
I'm here! Been a bit busy faffing with IG tanks and debating with myself whether or not to try out a Leafblower List just to see exactly how deadly it is. Not got the stuff yet, but you never know it might appear tomorrow (well, today). The Royal Fail does sometimes take it's time so I'm going to wait a bit before declaring it MIA. Anyhoo, nice weathering there, dude, the decision to make that skull metallic was a good one. It looks great. :P
Lorenzen
assume the queen is handling your package personally (get your mind out of the gutter you!) and that due to her other duties theres a bit of a delay.. its my assumption everytime something goes through the royal mail.. that or the guy whos delivering it is busy writing up the "you werent in" letter before he even gets to you.. im pretty sure thats standard operating procedure to piss you off when they knock, and have posted it through before you've even had time to walk to the door.
