The Blazing Suns: Revisited

Well, hello,

after about a year of inactivity, I'm back, with a revised chapter:

Index Astarates: Blazing Suns

Founding:

The founding of the Blazing Suns is a mystery, some say that they appeared from the warp unexpectedly, others say that they are remnants of the Flame Falcons chapter.

Organisation:

The Blazing Suns are organised mostly following the Codex Astarates, with the exception of the 8th company; this company is comprised solely of 10 Land Speeder Squadrons, therefore, Land Speeders are not ever given to a company, they are simply drawn from the 8th. This also means that the 7th company does not recieve the normal land speeder training. Librarians are also assigned to Companies, the 1st company with a terminator librarian, and the 8th with a land speeder mounted librarian.

Armour:

The Blazing Suns’ Main Colour is orange, with Blue or Red eye lenses, A green helmet indicates a Veteran, and Captains may choose a helmet colour.

Their main armour type is MK7, but there are many marines with MK6 Armour. The suns also have the honour of guarding one of the few MK1 suits that survived the Heresy.

They show their Company with a roman numeral on their right kneepad, and have squad markings on their right shoulder, many marines also show kills and heraldry on their Right shoulder, the chapter symbol is usually on the lest shoulder.

Before you ask, those boots were made for walking, and they're black, Deal With it.

I revised the chapter, mainly because I had a lot of criticism for basing them on Blackreach.

C&C Welcome.

PS, Sorry for the massive pic. :D

Yay, Planet Background! ;)

Homeworld:

The Blazing Suns are based on the desert planet Carvonia, It is practically inhospitable (for humans, anyway), it’s hive cities are inside huge airtight domes, that open only to let transport in and out of them. This is perfect for recruiting, because it makes for good challenges in training, and only the strongest make it in. On the other hand, the planet’s inhospitable climate means a lack of recruits at all. The Planet is home to all sorts of beasts, some large and some small; the most famed are the San Dragons, these huge reptiles strike with ferocious power, and can breathe fire. The Blazing Suns have their own special unit type, that sometimes replaces bikers, which has 5-10 marines mounted on some of the smaller creatures.

There are rules in developmet for both the dragons and the Sand Knights (that unit mentioned at the end).

The Sand Knights could have the rules of Thunderwolf cavalry? Perhaps with some flying rules inbuilt.

I think the idea that they are from the Flame Falcons could do with more work, maybe they don't like interaction with other Chapters and the Inquisition. Also weren't the Flame Falcons unstable? They were mostly killed on Lethe and declared renegade. I think they burst into flame every now and then, which is a down side to having them as a parent Chapter, as the Blazing Suns would sometimes start to blaze, drawing attention to themselves?

"Emperor! You are on fire Battle Brother!"

"Sorry, this happens sometimes"

Good idea, little bit of work can make it better

Thanks for the Constructive Criticism,

You have a point about the flame falcons, but that was used more as a placeholder rather than something confirmed, plus, i mentioned that it was a rumor, and therefore maybe not the truth.

The rules for the 'Sand Knights' have been written, but may be updated, and thanks for the idea about flight, I will keep that in mind.
