Considering the Fang!

So I'm back from a long absence- nearly a year without slaying the enemies of the emperor. Had to sell my proud Black Templars to pay rent. That sort of crap.

Anyway, I'm really considering starting a Space Wolves army. I've been reading the codex for a couple of weeks and am getting very excited about it. Firstly, the models are top notch. The fact that I don't have to buy a bunch of extra kit or bits on ebay to make the army look unique is a big plus. Their stats and rules are really cool, but to me that's secondary to their play style- aggressive, mean, down and dirty.

Here's what I was planning on buying for a start. I mean to add a little bit more every month till I've got a good 2500 points.

x2 space wolf battleforce box sets

one space wolf terminator box

one space wolf box.

Any must haves? Any don't buys?

I plan on running an army loaded with at least two 15 man blood claw squads at first. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

To start with I'd just stick with grey hunter boxes, Terminators aren't often seen in a space wolf army because of their high points cost.

Remember when buying vehicles to always buy Razorbacks over rhinos because its the same price for an added weapon.

Plenty of devs as well, hard to get the missile launchers required but forgeworld do a good set.

Hypocrites?!

Does a tracker nestle down at night with his blood hound under his blanket?

Does a ploughmen break bread with the oxen who hauls the tool through the earth?

So if common men do not do these things with such beasts, then how much less should a noble Astartes abide with such a perversion of nature and gate for daemon spawn?!

Hmmm?!

They dwell outside in the stable with other such implements under the dominion of man.

:P

Welcome to the Fang brother!

I'd hold off on the Terminators for awhile b/c they are pricey in our dex and really not seen much outside Logan builds in my experience. As stated previously razorbacks buy razorbacks and don't glue the top part on you get the basic bits for a rhino in the kit as well. Saves money in the long run. Melta is hard to get in the SW kits so i'd suggest going SW battleforce and 2x tac squad boxes you'll get melta and 2x ML which will help if you choose to run long fangs unless you want the second drop pod then stick with the battleforce.

HQ choices with SW are alot of fun if you're thinking about running alot of Bloodclaws then a chaplain and or ragnar are nice additions to rip apart the enemy.

Marshal,

Yeah that did suck. 600 dollars of black Templars sold for 250. I still hate thinking about it. If GW ever puts out BT sets the way they released those of the wolves I will start a new BT army.

I was wanting to get a terminator box in order to make some nifty lone wolves/indipendant characters.

How effective are packless wolves in the field?
