Plasticard?

Recommended Posts

Hihi,

Im looking for small tubes of various internal/external diameters as well as like I/H bar extruded shapes... as well as sheets... BUUUTT I can't seem to find any at all, ever. The sheet styrene/plasticard yes I can find but the more interesting shapes I cant.

Would anyone have come across a decent online stockist that (preferably) operates in the UK? (for shipping to Ireland... I know there wont be an Irish supplier... and Id be fall out of my chair surprised if there was!)

Is that Mindsets Online your refering to? (formerly mutr.co.uk) unless im blind... they stock tubes of acryllic and nylon, and box abs... but no sheets of any of those.. and none of them are available in polystyrene.

My local college doesnt use anything like what im looking for.. the closest thing to it is the arcitechture dept, but they provide only paper/wood and the student has to go else where themselves if they want anything different... and ive never seen any of the models they made that have plastic on them... so theyre out!

I use Plastruct (see above) or Evergreen:

http://www.evergreenscalemodels.com/

Most Model Railway (Railroad if over the pond!) shops/suppliers will stock one or both, or be able to obtain what you want.

Whilst buying online is fine if you know exactly what sizes/shapes you want, I usually find it best to 'see it in the flesh' to guage whether it will do the job I have in mind.

Also, have a look on this site:

http://www.ukmodelshops.co.uk/counties/mod...p_directory.php

Down the page there is an entry for Eire and this lists a few shops to try. - For instance, the Marks Models shops appear to supply scratchbuilding materials and do mail order.

I get pretty much all my hobby materials from the UK-based http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/. The owner is very friendly and the service is great. They stock a lot of materials in almost every shape or size you might want, prices are also pretty reasonable. Can't recommend enough.

Edit: I know for a fact they sell things like I and H bars, because I've ordered them many times. You'll find what you want in 'Sheet Materials': http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/wargami...-materials.html, with most of the plasticard stuff in the 'Evergreen Plastic' sub-section.

I mostly get Evergreen Scale Models stuff, as that is what my local model railway shop stocks, and I normally physically wander in as opposed to buying online (as it is a 10 minute walk away). Does all sorts, sheets, textured sheets, rods, tubes, even H and I-beam stuff from what I saw this afternoon (was buying some plastic 1/16 and 0.80 rod to fix the aerial probes on some very old and house move battered speeders).

When I do buy online (like Vallejo Air piants, airbrushes etc) I go to http://www.creativemodels.co.uk/, not sure if they do plasticard though but given what else I have bought from there I can't see that they wouldn't, but I am sure http://transportmodels.co.uk/ will do, as they had some when I was physically in the shop (and what a shop, it takes hours to get me out of there). That is only a 20 minute drive away so most modelling stuff I get to fondle before I buy ;)

I 100% agree with this!

Only found this place a few months ago, but they will be getting all of my business when it comes to tools, paints and materials as the service and prices are fantastic.
