Good day to you all. I've been a long time (since 2nd Ed) marine player, primarily with Ultramarines. However, I have decided it is time for a change as I'm bored of all the grimdark warrior monk approach to battle and fancied a change.

I still like the look of marines, so after reading various codices, I decided as I'm not 12 the blood angels weren't for me, I'm not an emo so that ruled out the Dark Angels, and I'm not xenophobic so bye-bye Black Templars.

However, I do love drinking, I have partaken in the odd brawl over the years, and I think vikings are awesome, hence the draw to Space Wolves. Couple that with the fact they have the potential for a completely different play style and I'm sold.

So my idea behind my force is to start small (of course), with a core of blood claws under the leadership of a Wolf Guard, and then charter their rise and fall as claws get raised to hunters and eventually long fangs, whilst others fall, new claws come in to replace them, and the army generally grows.

I get the distinct impression that they won't be the easiest force to game with, as blood claws aren't exactly crack troops, but hell, it'll be fun and there'll be plenty of stories to tell in the drinking halls.

I should have the first few members finished by the weekend (I have a 3 month old daughter so less painting time than would be ideal... ;) ) and will post them up for C&C, but the intention is they are part of Bjorn Stormwolfs great company, sent off to prove their metal.

Does this sound somewhat far fetched? It strikes me as the kind of thing Space Wolves would do. Perhaps their Wolfguard leader (or the claws themselves) span one too many unbelievable stories over a meal and was challenged to put their money where their mead was.

Hey man, works for me. Did a similar concept with a model I made that was supposed to be me. Started as blood claw, shone as a grey hunter with a melta gun, and now making my way through the WG to become a battle leader or a lord!

That sounds like a truly epic idea!

I managed to strip the metal models I still had down last night (a bunch of Wolf Guard terminators and a really old Iron Priest) so they'll be ready by the time the packs arrive on Friday.

It turns out that a mix of Cillit Bang, Oven Cleaner, and Boiling Water do a great job of removing the grease from models, and the varnish, but don't get rid of the paint (thanks to a brave Wolfguard for trying that one...)

Jeyes Fluid on the other hand...

What do you people use for cleaning brushes? The above mix kinda worked, but a lot of my brushes are pretty old, and have been in a storage box caked in dried paint it would appear. Most of them cleaned up brilliantly, but there's a couple where the dried on paint just won't shift, and they're the brushes that are otherwise in the best quality!
