Right Shoulderpad on your Wolf Lord

So I was painting my Thunderwolf Lord, and I finished painting his Great Co. symbol on his left pad, flipped him around and got ready to paint his right pad and then the ol mind went blank. What goes there? Usually, its the pack marking, but does that change for the Wolf Lord? Do you just make up a pack marking for him, or is there supposed to be somethin else there?

Now, I know its my model and I can paint whatever I want on there, but what I am lookin for is if there is anything canonical or whatnot that is supposed to go there. If it is a pack marking, what colors are they supposed to be? thanks in advance brothers!

You could: use one of the textured pads in our boxes, freehand a battle scene, or use the pack marking of whichever unit you generally join the IC too.

I personally stick a Mark V shoulder pad on. I have a few of those lying around from my vanilla marine boxes. I put a Deathwatch pad on my Rune Priest.

i use Ragnar Blackmane's company so it's a moot point, but...

for my wolf guard instead of individual pack markings I simply reverse the company marking for the right shoulder pad. That gives them a unifrom look and one that I think suits the higher ranking soldiers well. A sort of "this whole company is my pack" idea.

The GW sculptors have been very careful not to give us any detail on the two special character wolf lord models' right shoulder. We only have Ragnar and Logan, and where Logan is often painted with the "The Wolf That Stalks Between Stars" emblem of Leman Russ, Ragnar simply has a pelt draped over it.

The approach for Ragnar is how I would go about it. I'd use the right shoulderpad as a sort of canvas for trinkets, totems, pelts and runic markings.

I would say some sort of honor marking, trinkets etc.

I went for the skull and parchment, so I could write his name...

Thanks everybody, i Decided to go with a WG Pack Marking, not an expert painter by any stretch, but it works i think, simple and effective.

The logical solution would be to either double-up on the Great Company icon (to echo the "this entire company is my pack" sentiment), or use the Wolf Guard pack icon (once a Wolf Lord is slain, his successor is chosen from amongst the Wolf Guard; thus the Wolf Guard are "his" pack).

A bit off topic but I just want to say that I adore the colour scheme of your great company :)

Correct.

The Wolf Guard are the elite warriors of the Great Company. They are the pack brothers of the Wolf Lord himself, his companions and his most trusted friends.
