League Battle

Recommended Posts

Okay so one of the co-owners of the store decided that it would be a good idea to do a map escalation league and well I have been biding my time.

Round 1 I took one territory

Round 2 I took one of 4 Major territories, these territories when you control all 4 give you 1st place. I hit a Tau army, and while he brought 280 points..... I brought the hammer down and hit him with 1800.

It's round 3 and I am facing off against 3 separate players, 600 points of Nids, 525 Points of Blood Angels, and another 400 Points of Nids.....

I am indecisive on what to bring to the table.... any suggestions?

I am trying to stay away from being cheesey, but it looks like I am breaking out a couple of Rune Priests for fun... Murderous Hurricane and other ranged goodness. I just really want to break out a WGBL and some other stuff that is usually not on the table.

Typically, space wolves should be ready to handle this anyways. Grey Hunters, bolters, Long Fangs, speeders... All those should be ample for dealing with them.

I am somewhat amused that they are bringing so few to the fight. They could quite easily overwhem you with desive numbers. Yet it looks like a fight where it could quite easily be dealt with by taking a simlar number of guys to last time. Because I imagine each detachment will need to take it's own HQ's and what not, which will stop them from outnumbering you. From there, solid tactics will win the day, while defeating them will do little to harm them. (assuming they have reserves.) but will maintain your grip on territory. Another option would be to perhaps give the land up without too much of a struggle and let the eventral, interfighting wear them down for you. Since if they do all go to war with you, 3 players would be difficult to hold off.

um. it's a nobrainer u won teh tau fight.

With point limits on the other players at such a low scale, its not surprising that u won. They really can't pack enormous firepower since they're options are very limited.

U want to beat the game? Bring in the Wolf Guard and some wolf priests. Tempests to devastate the Nids.

You'll win

I forgot to mention a few facts before posting this...

Every Round you get a set number of points to assign to ALL your territories.

Special Characters can only be assigned to one territory/battle.

For this fight this is what I was thinking.

Rune Priest with Living Lightning and Murderous Hurricane with a Chooser

Wolf Priest

2 Packs of Grey Hunters

Land Speeder Tornado with Flamer

Vindicator or 2.... I don't own any so I have to see if I can borrow my friend's

I am torn on equipping the Packs as well as their size. Part of me wants to keep away from CC and feed the :) flaming plasma death.... the other part wants to beat 'em at their own game.

I know 2 of the 3, one of the Nid players is a kid, pretty cool and fun to play against. The other Nid player I have never met..... which brings up the Blood Angel player. After a lengthy pause I still don't have anything nice to say so here goes (minus my old Gunny's descriptions) he is a hardcore tournament player that is a rules lawyer, any movement or action or anything he stops you to check your codex or the rules. Last time he played he...showed up, asked to see his opponents list, then he built a list to beat him right then and there in front of my buddy. When I played him it was the single worst experience of my gaming life. I was a half second from pulling a WWE and clocking him with a folding chair. The other owner is considering kicking him out because anytime he is there it seems like he causes more problems than he's worth.

I would say a pair of whirlwinds, a pack of lascannon long fangs, an Iron priest to keep the whirlwinds shooting, and a couple of packs of grey hunters. focus your fire according to precedence, take your time to pick out the right targets. This is going to be tough since your facing the uber shooty tau, and the endless choppy of the nids.

How much points are you bringing to this battle then? Being a fairly imporent question.

Either way, with your current list your gonna be outnumbered, so you will need some long range fire to help soften up the guys you don't want to be facing in combat. Still, speeder and vindie/heavy slot should cover that. Just it sounds like you are taking around the 1000 rangish.

I'd go with the folding chair. Though at this point i have to point out that Physical violence is not big and its not clever... And I cant condone it.

Hell yeah its the Space wolf Wolf way, though with cunning, guile , honour and courage.

Sorry that really didnt help, but your folding chair comment was pure gold.lol.

Funny enough, I was in Phoenix Fire the other night and Mr. Blood Angel has been complaining that he was not able to reach me and DEMANDED the win......

The owners are seriously considering banning him after this one because he got in their faces.

So here is a thought.... I know that one of the Nid armies is gonna be Guant Heavy... should I break out a Sky Claw unit with Wolf Priest to jump them and bring the pain early along with some Hunters in transports to provide fire support, or should I go dual Vindi's or Dual Whirlwinds or a Vindi and a Whirlwind for long and short fire support?

I know that the A&B charges wouldn't be worth it, but it would be fun and being a former Marine medic.
