Novamarines - Xenocide Force

Recommended Posts

I've come to my next and final project (atleast for while) the Novamarines! Since reading up on them in IA 10 the idea has grown and i've been looking forward to doing a UM successor.

My test Miniature - Veteran sargeant Vorenus

I'm still needing to tidy this guy up and add insigna. I intend to start out with a couple of Tac quads and razorbacks and see how things go.

C&C/ advice welcome.

cheers

Thanks alot guys, the huron head is very well made and easy to paint.

The white is simply layers of bone and white mixtures, highlighted with white. It takes a while if you want a smooth finish as you have to thin the paint quite abit i find. This test mini "quality" is how i mean to go on so it'll take awhile to paint an army.

so far units i want are -

x2 6 man Tac squads

x2 Razorback transports

x3 Landspeeders (2 typhoons, 1 tornado)

x1 10 man Assault squad

x2 Terminator squads (1 command, 1 assault)

x1 Predator Destructor

I dont even play so this is more a personal showcase thing, perhaps i'll get to use them at the local GW.

cheers

Amazing job! I like how it is more of an off-white than a bone color, and I think it goes better with the blue. I think getting a good bone color is the toughest part of getting Novamarines to look good, but you seem to have it.

Keep up the good work, and keep us informed!

Crusader of Dorn (cool name btw  ), really like your 'test mini' - can't wait to see the finished article! How did you achieve the look on the bone side of the armour with the black in the recesses? I tried painting a star wars style SM not too long ago where I undercoated the model in black then painted either side of the recesses in bone/white yet did not quite get the same effect as you have - the black did not really come through anywhere near as clear as yours does. Is there a simple recipe you use when painting up the bone coloured side??

Thanks again,

the base is quite simple as not to detract from the rest though i may add some tufts of grass to make them look less barren.

The insignia is accurate to my knowledge, the novamarines dont denote company by colour codeing. his veteran sargeant rank is shown by the red helmet and gold trim/studs.

I also start my white/bone from a black base, i use vemin brown to layer up adding bone, then switch to bone and white mixtures. As for the recesses, well its a steady hand to make sure you keep the paint on the flat surfaces.

Thanks, been busy so progress will be slow, i'm literally taking this one marine at a time.

working on a heavy weapon marine just now, found enough bitz to make an assault termie sgt also.

Not sure what to do about chapter insignia, i dont fancy free handing so i guess i'll have to look around for custom transfers.

Nova Victa!

Concerning the Chapter symbol, you may wanna head over to Lamenters website, Master of the Forge, as he has a great way of doing them, and will make custom moulds, theres a tutorial vid too.

cheers,

Jono
