rodgambit
If I use my 3 heavy slots for LF's and I buy a land raider for my WG but they are all broken off to lead grey hunters, can one of the grey hunter packs start the game inside the land raider since it was dedicated to a wolf guard who is leading them? I want to start Arjac+10 grey hunters in a land raider purchased for the WG unit but I'm not sure if that is possible rules wise or if it would be allowed in deployment for DoW. From pg 67 of the rulebook: DEDICATED TRANSPORTSSometimes a unit entry in a Codex will include a transport option, allowing a vehicle to be selected together with the unit. These ‘dedicated transports’ do not use up a slot on the force organisation chart. Other vehicles may also have a transport capacity, but they are chosen separately as normal and occupy a force organisation chart slot of their own (for example, the mighty Space Marine Land Raider). The only limitation of a dedicated transport is that when it is deployed it can only carry the unit it was selected with (plus any independent characters). After the game begins, it can then transport any friendly infantry unit, subject to transport capacity and other special exclusions, as explained in the vehicle’s entry (it might not be able to transport Terminators, for example). rodgambit
Hmm so I would assume that is a no after reading since the unit it was bought for no longer exist. Grimtooth
Deploy right next to it, first turn hop in and move full distance. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/235209-transport-rules-question/#findComment-2832599 Share on other sites

It would have to be a LR Crusader as a regular Space Wolf LR has a transport capacity of 10 models. Toasterfree
or a redeemer (thats my first choice) it holds 12 :) G redeemer is eh. not really worth anything till your guns are 8 inches away at the most. LRC 24" tank, and enough shots to mow down a 10 man marine unit at 12". still more effective and same points cost. LRR best for outflank. rodgambit
The main reason I wanted to know was for dawn of war deployment, but it won't work for that since the raider wouldn't be counted as a troops choice since it was purchased for an elite unit. obs0l3te
wouldn't it be possible... if you use grimnar... to deploy the LR? Wolf Guard would count as troops, the land raider would be troops... so you could do it. Silverwolf
@ obs0l3te - Yes, but then it's only viable in Logan Wing armies, and only if it's deploying with the unit it was selected for, so he still can't start with Grey Hunters in it. rodgambit
Actually it would work because you can deploy 2 empty transports if you wanted as your troops choices. So if I was using Logan and the wolf guard I purchased it for were all spread out among units then I could just put it on the table by itself and then the troops choice behind it. Maybe I can't put them inside but I could deploy them all together and then get in on turn 1. Silverwolf
so he still can't start with Grey Hunters in it. Yes, I'm well aware that you can start outside and hop in turn 1. However sometimes there are reasons you specifically want to start inside, during deployment.
