Lord Sirrion
So the ard boyz scenarios are up. Anyone else feel like GK are a sure thing in this? First scenario is kill point with a traitor. You give the opponent one of your troops models, it gets a modified statline, ic status and is worth 5 killpoints. No problems here. Dragowing is the king of KP denial and we've got the Vindicare! First turn, turbo penetrator, BAM! 5 killpoints. Second scenario is 5 objectives, spaced evenly around the board. A bit harder but still pretty good for the ol' GK with shunting shenanigans. Third scenario is victory points. Harkening back to the tournament of old. Still easy peasy for the GKs. Draigowing once again! I was going to bring my nids, but now I'm thinking I'd be stupid not to bring out my GKs! Any thoughts on this? breng77
While I think GKs can game the scenarios, Draigowing is not the way to do it. Scenario 1 (unless you take other troops) you give up at least 55 points to give up that troop model, and then your opponent reserves that model to keep it from dying. Scenario 2 has no advantage for Gks over most other armies Scenario 3 unless you are running 2 HQs Draigo is a big handicap here as he is worth 550 VPs by himself. For Draigowing to spread out and take a bunch of objectives is no easy thing- low mobility, low model and unit count. Lord Sirrion
To clarify, I didn't mean Draigowing as your only units. At 2500 you can fit a lot of stuff. Add a unit of interceptors a GKSS or two and you're golden. So when you give up a troop, it's just a normal GKSS guy. Whether or not they reserve that traitor, as soon as he steps on the board he's paste. Something Wycked
Now that I think about it, 2500 is a lot of Paladins... Maybe Draigowing wouldn't have such troubles... Hmmm.... Edit: Assume about 700 points per 10 man Pally squad and you can fit in 30 Paladins, plus Draigo, plus a Vindicare in 2500. ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/235265-ard-boyz-scenarios/#findComment-2833419 Share on other sites
breng77
oh you can get a lot at 2500, it just sucks for 2 missions. As for the traitor being dead as soon as it hits the table, unless your Vindicare has LOS and range to the whole table that is not the case at all. Whitefireinferno
And Thus why the Special missions should not be told until the Game happens Due to it is now not build the best army list you can and use your Brain in which ever scenario that comes up Use your brain to build lists to exploit the Special missions. BLACK BLΠFLY
I played two of the missions this evening with my Draigowing and won both handily. I think these missions do tend to favor small elite armies... The psyflemen are golden as always. What's the problem with that? You already have to build your army lists with "special" scenarios in mind- the missions in the core rulebook. What does it matter if the standard missions get modified ahead of time, and everyone has the same advance notice to plan? breng77
The other thing to keep in mind is many people don't have the models to really game the system, or are going to play a list similar to one they are familiar with. With the amount these missions screw with normal rules (like infiltrate/outflank) it would really suck to bring an army build around those mechanics and not be able to use it to its best ability due to strange rules.
