Torvak Kyre
Hi all. I was just reading dswanik's topic and thought I might start on another Wolf Lord, Bjorn Stormwolf. Feedback is welcome. Unit Name UnitWSBSSTWIALdSvBjorn Stormwolf6544354102+/3++ Bjorn Stormwolf (HQ)..........250pts Unit TypeUnit CompositionWargearSpecial RulesInfantry (unique) Bjorn Stormwolf Terminator Armour Thunder Hammer Storm Shield Wolftooth Necklace Saga of the Bear And they shall know no fear Counter Attack Acute Senses Independent Character Howl of the Stormwolf Howl of the Stormwolf: Bjorn's spectacular assaults reflect his impatient and aggressive nature, and invariably include lots of heavy weapons, bikes and vindicators - essentially anything that makes a great deal of noise. To show this an army that includes Bjorn can include a squadron of up to three vindicators or predators. Also units with the outflank rule lose it due to Bjorn's nature for up front assaults. Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
I am thinking that the Belt of Russ (4++) and the Storm Shield (3++) might be a tad redundant. Redundant. Other than that, I like it. Bjorn MissileSpam-wolf?? End of Line Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/235298-wolf-lord/#findComment-2833846 Share on other sites
dswanick
I agree with R_P_Rhapsody that the Storm shield and Belt of Russ are redundant. Redundant. ;) I also notice that the points cost is for a Wolf Lord with the equipment listed and doesn't account for the extra HS slot in either points or a significant drawback. Most opponents are going to be hesitant to allow you a free extra HS slot especially when it could be used for another ML Long Fang squad (which seems to draw so much ire). I would consider dropping the Belt of Russ, increasing his cost to 250pts and limiting what the HS slot can be used for or adding some kind of drawback (perhaps no BEL Scouts to represent the full-frontal nature of his assaults?). Here's a thought. Instead of a free "extra" HS slot, maybe fielding Bjorn could allow one Squadron of up to 3X Vindicators or 3X Whirlwinds to be selected? Vindicators in Squadrons could be self balancing by the need for them to both maneuver and shoot as a unit while most people don't seem to value Whirlwinds very highly anyway. Other than that, welcome to the Wolf Lord bandwagon. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/235298-wolf-lord/#findComment-2833880 Share on other sites
Torvak Kyre
Thanks for the replies. Sorry about the Belt of Russ I was meant to take it out when I added the Storm Shield. Instead of the whirlwind squadron i've put a pred squadron. I will edit the rules now. Shadow warrior
Hey FenrisKid, I like the Idea of eric morkai and the scout count as troops rule. I always want scouts but i like LW and Dreads to and I always take wolfguard so that would be sweet. Chapter Master Ignis Domus
Wouldn't you want Erik to have OBEL, so he works with the scouts? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/235298-wolf-lord/#findComment-2834345 Share on other sites
Torvak Kyre
Wouldn't you want Erik to have OBEL, so he works with the scouts? When an independent character that has outflank joins a squad with OBEL they can use the OBEL rule. I would put a link but they keep breaking. Torvak Kyre
I've now decided to do Gunnar Red Moon. Favouritism of Power: Gunnar favours his Long Fangs more than most, for he reasons that veterans make best companions in the feast hall as well as on the battlefield. Torvak Kyre
Based on his description, I would give him Terminator Armor and Saga of the Bear. I could only give him one Saga and based on the info about Bal'yth's Orb i gave him saga of the warrior born. With Terminator Armour I thought that a Wolf Lord that blood thirsty would prefer to have move manoeuvrability. But I like your idea. Chapter Master Ignis Domus
His fluff mentions he's a great bear of a man, which to me implies Saga of the Bear, and Terminator armor. If you look in the Space Wolves White Dwarf, there's a picture of a Terminator Lord with TH and SS that I think looks almost exactly like what he seems to me. Torvak Kyre
I'll give him term armour because of your reasoning but with the sagas i'm going to keep saga of the warrior born due to the Bal'yth's Orb description.
