Baluc
So after watching a blood angel player use Mephiston as a counter attacking element, I thought of the idea of using a single TWC as my one-two punch in my force. They have considerable staying power, obviously not as much as Mephiston, but they do have a larger operational range.I developed this idea after having played several grey knight players and have found that despite shooting them if they get the charge they are going to win against pretty much any sized unit. This unit has become my MEQ hunter killers. 5 Grey Hunters Meltagun or plasma gun Plasma pistol Wg Combi-plasma Razorback Las/Plas Together they can put out between 5 plasma shots and 6 bolter rounds in one round of shooting. It is then complemented with 1 TWC, with frost blade, I'm considering adding a storm shield, but then I think units of two naked TWC would be better. To assault and finish off what is left. This combo rings up at 273 points, and I'm considering have two of them in my army. So what does the fang think? Torvak Kyre
I think it's a great idea. One problem you will have though will be your opponent may not let you use the Lone TWC due to it not being in the codex. Quite a nice cheap team. Nice idea. ORKILL
That's 1-5 per squad. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/235375-squad-of-one-thunderwolf-cav/#findComment-2834541 Share on other sites

But all in all a great idea Your a bit off the mark with your info there mate, you can take a single Thunderwolf or any number up to a maximum of 5 in the pack. As to the OP's query I have seen a single T-wolf used quite a bit with good results. If used as a counter attack element only to support larger packs in combat they work nicely. A single T-wolf with a Wolf Claw doesn't break the bank and can advance nicely behind Rhinos gaining a 4+ cover save quite easily whilst keeping up with the Rhinos with decent fleet moves. Against a MEQ squad your hitting on 4+ with a re roll and wounding on 3's which will really tip the combat in your favour. I'd give it a go but I'd be careful of spending too many points on a single T-wolf model.
