kharn_the_betrayer
I did a little too much odd kit bashing and have found out I put a Black Templar flamer and cool looking chained bolt pistol in my space wolf army. Is it fluffy to say that they were given as a sign of respect to the respective Blood Claw and Grey Hunter who wield them earned in a war fought together. Silverwolf
I'd say not, purely because of the level of reverence placed on a Chapter's equipment, with each bolt pistol and chainsword being cared for fastidiously. Each chapter tends to rather jealously guard their resources, as much of the knowledge behind how each item is created is steeped in myth and religion, so each weapon and piece of armour is treated almost like a holy relic, often being prayed over and blessed before a battle. Considering how zealous the Black Templar are, I'd consider them to be even less likely to hand over their equipment then most other chapters. But, all of the above aside. At the end of the day, it's all fiction :). So if you want to come up with some story about them saving the collective asses of some Black Templar and being honoured for it, then go ahead. I kind of saw it as a reward for exceptional fighting alongside them, but that is a good idea as well. Sadly this issue came about because of me not planning out arms for the third ed battleforce (the flamer) and just wanting a cool bolter/bolt pistol pose from the new boxes. Silverwolf
Green Stuff is your friend ;). Unless you've already painted etc? In my new GC project I've started using a lot of Chaos (Both 40k & Fantasy) parts on my models, which tends to require a lot of careful knife work, followed by GS cover jobs to remove the Chaos iconography (Makes my wolves look more Viking :)). I was tempted to simply go the road of making them 13th Co., but eventually stuck with my original plan of Bran Redmaw's GC. So the more vicious looking gear works nicely, just takes longer :). Sadly that ship has already sailed and my GS skills bite hard. The Templar Cross on the flamer is small on the canister (not too visible), but its the clearly chained on pistol that draws attention. It doesn't have the cross on it, just the huge chain. I'm also a templar player so I had some spares hanging around my drawers and decided to use them for the excess arms/weapons. Looks cool though. Not fully painted just primed as of right now I'm a slow painter. Quillen
It's fine, there is fluff of Space Wolves working with other chapters and nothing wrong with saying a Grey Hunter or even a BloodClaw could not be rewarded with a bolter or chainsword because of an honour debt. There is fluff of Guard officers and Comissars getting bolters for this. In fact the old organge compedium had a little bit about it. Chaplins had Commissars bolt pistols for exceptional valour. And it's your Company. You can do what you like with it. We had a campaign and in it you could take a weapon from a defeated foe if you killed him in CC. So if you fragged a Tua HQ and he had a cool what ever you could make a model with it. Only 1 weapon thou. And you had to kill the HQ and survive to get off the board. Heck Logans Axe is a melted down and reforged deamon weapon. lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/235405-weapon-trading/#findComment-2834928 Share on other sites
MaveriK
Space Wolves are barbarians and what do savage warriors know to do? "spoils of war" we take what we want, we destroy what we don't need. We take trophies of many kinds, weapons from fallen comrades are fine, if a brother astartes fought honorably, I would take his weapon to honor his memory. Is it fluffy to say that they were given as a sign of respect to the respective Blood Claw and Grey Hunter who wield them earned in a war fought together. There was a weapon forged by another chapter, a gift for Ragnar Blackmane. Ragnar heard about it and laughed, and said... "they can keep their trinkets" there is a big difference with being given a gift than earning and taking it as a spoils of war. Tsavong Lah
I have a Grey Hunter who sports a Dark Angels powerfist. He got into a brawl with one of their Tac Marines one day and kicked ass, making off with a powerfist in the process. Or something like that. Mostly I just wanted the raised powerfist and didn't want to deal with shaving off the emblem. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/235405-weapon-trading/#findComment-2835034 Share on other sites
