Bigger-than-Jesus Posted August 2, 2011 Share Posted August 2, 2011 They're really cleanly painted, but honestly, they look as though you just really watered down a coat of paint and put it straight over white. I dunno, the colours are too flat and vivid for me at the moment. If nothings finished disregard everything I've said. Dusktiger Posted August 2, 2011 Author Share Posted August 2, 2011 thanx guys! ok, first off, yep, these arent finished, i have a game with them this week so i was rushing the purifier and strike squads into being something close to tabletop ready so the two squads stand apart from one another on the table. the armor is just 2 thin coats of mithril over a white basecoat. that said, i wont be putting too much depth into the purifier's armour apart from the paneling, as i want their armour as bright and stunning as possible; they're the purest most incorruptable of their brothers; their armour should look almost white. once i'm done, the 3 with falchions should look closer to the hammer and psycannon, hopefully. the strike squad, well, they're in for alot of work. like the justicar, i'll be attempting to drybrush a blue glowing effect coming from their scripture on the armour, and from any piping that seems appropriate. the purifiers will have white scripture and weapon casings to further stand out from 5 feet away so people can better see there's different squads on the board. now, for your question Culix, i'm using a light box to take these photos in, and once i have the pics on my computer, i use adobe photoshop to edit them further by going into Image>Adjustments>Levels... and then using the 3 eyedroppers in the bottom right of the window that pops up, i choose the dropper for white levels and click something i painted white, and then i choose the black and click something i painted black that's 'displaying' as black and not a really dark grey on-screen. then click ok and the pics turn out like that. i'm loving the result as it helps catch how they look in person alot more. Dusktiger Posted August 3, 2011 Author Share Posted August 3, 2011 i'm gonna try to keep posting, but i just got requested to assemble and paint a Thunderhawk Gunship for a space wolf friend (who's asked that no pics be posted until its finished so he's surprised by the end result). so i may have to pause on my knights for a bit. but i'll take plenty of pics to document the thunderhawk!
