CosmicCreations
there is actually one thing I would like to see, and that is some pigment powders used on the legs and base scenery to tie them together! (although this is hard to do on rocks) (PS I find kitchen cork tiling works better than actual rocks to get a much more effective scale rock face/ground look) Well I did think of this too, but I don't have any pigment powders, so I wondered if I could get the same effect with Oil Pastels. I scraped some off to create a pile of dust, and then stippled it on. It worked very well at first, but unfortunately it doesn't really stay on :/ Ah thanks for the tip :) I'll see if I can get some. Cyrox Posted Aug 7 2011, 06:33 PM Cosmic - what white undercoat did you use? I find that the Skull white spray is sometimes a bit chalky Love that second terminator I used the Skull White Primer, and yeah it can get a bit chalky, but for me it seems to be hit and miss really. Haven't been painting that much lately, but I got back into it today, so just a quick photo of the third Termie taken quickly on my phone.... http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo11/Cosmic_Castaway2157/Space%20Marines/Photo3585.jpg The phone has washed out a lot of the colours, he looks exactly the same as the other two so don't worry. I need to work on his face a bit more too. death given form
Heh, am I crazy, or is that a canister of airsoft gas in the background of that photo? Honestly, I like your hammers more than I like those in the tutorial. Brother-Chaplain Kage
After you use chalks to weather a model, you have to put some sort of sealer over it - generally a spray gloss or dull coat. CosmicCreations
Thanks everyone B) Glad you all like them and I appreciate the comments :D I've been offline for a while but now I'm back, slowly but surely still painting. Here's some recent photos of the Imperial Fists http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo11/Cosmic_Castaway2157/Space%20Marines/Photo3627.jpg http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo11/Cosmic_Castaway2157/Space%20Marines/Photo3628.jpg I think I'll finish the middle one and call time on this project for the moment. I'm hoping to invest in some more professional painting equipment and the like so hopefully if all goes to plan you'll see some different stuff. DarkMark
These are very smart indeed. Heres a couple of ideas you might consider, or just completely ignore :P 1. For the faces: how about using a thin blue wash around the eyes/ nose 2. For the armour: try using a thin red wash in the deepest cracks to help with lining 3. For the insignia: a thin purple wash would add some more contrast I reckon. I doubt these suggestions would add much painting time, but in any case you've done the IFs proud.
