Very nicely done man! Congrats on the silver.

Thanks! I was glad I got to meet Vincent in person finally; the guy has been an inspiration to me for years, and I was honored to finally get a chance to compete with him. :(

Excellent job! It looks even more amazing.

They apparently take better photos than I do, though I don't know why they did a close up on the cannon, over the claw. :HQ:

congratulations brother! silver is more fitting for us wolves anyway, its our own gold. LOL you won 1st place here at the Fang no matter what.

I agree; I've always been more partial to silver. :P Thanks man.

Glad we convinced you to enter! Congrats!

No kidding, me too.

I'm already planning to head back next year, and have a few ideas for entries in the works. One of them is Space Wolf in nature, though it may prove to be less epic than the Bjorn... I'm not really sure what I can do to top him inside the Space Wolf category, though.

IMO start a brainstorm thread for ideas.. might wanna decide the category, but imo I'd like to see your skills in a diorama.

That's a good idea. I've got some simple ideas for a few categories, and I've actually got a WHFB diorama idea I've been hashing out in my head for about 6 weeks now, that I think will absolutely kill. I'll have to figure out a way to get WIP's to my brothers and sisters here. :P Of course, I can always do 2 dioramas and put one in open, if another one hits me.

Conratulations, I'm sure it got plenty of second looks there, and thirds, and fourths......... So who ended with the slayer sword?

Thanks! Vincent Hudon snagged his gold in my category, and won the sword with it.

Congratulations, it really is a beautiful piece of work.

More than can be said for some of those winners though. I'm amazed at the wildly varied standard this year.

Thanks! I think the category I was most disappointed with was 40k squad. Jim Wappel rightly got his gold, but Dave Taylor had a nice squad that deserved at least bronze over the necron squad, if not the silver. Looking at it in person, the Necrons really just looked like novelty NMM painted for tabletop to me.

Pipped buy the sword winner. Personally, I think the judges like Orks because from what I see in the pics, there's not much in it between yours and his quality wise.

I was told it was very close, and the main thing that set him apart was the freehand on the back of the leather jacket, because you could barely see any of it in the final model.

So... I'll try to achieve that level of insanity next year, now that I know that it matters. :)

Glad we convinced you to enter! Congrats!

No kidding, me too. :)

I tell you, go for the Reaver with freehand everywhere. No one can say no to that.

I want to, I really do! :)

I just wonder at this point if I'd have the time, mainly because I've also got a ton of commission painting to take care of between now and then.

It might be something I have to look at a couple years down the road.

Great job on getting this far with your first entry!

The ale is over there and the flanks of meat are over there, normal places. I say help yourself. That model really should have placed higher, but the hard to see stuff seems to count as well, so at least now you know about it.

Good luck in your next entry choice: Maybe a full ten-man Wolf Scout squad led by a WP with a WGPL (Fist) taking on a squad of five chaos termies and a supporting dread? Meltabombs for the dread plus the WGPL, and the WP and the rest of the scouts going after the termies?

Edit: I did read some of the idea thread, let me move that over.

Looking at the three in that line up, i must say i like the Nurgal dread, but it lacks any sort of character.. nothing is going on.. beautiful figure and paint, but no movement.

Yours is amazing, i feel.. something is off.. in the colors or something.. it just feels to.. blurred? Dont get me wrong it is amazing and far far better then i could ever hope to do, but i feel there is a lack of contrast that makes parts stand out over others you know? Its all just kind of the same color.

Then the Orc.. well id say the real winner on that is the face, that is just funny as hell right there and likely what got it the most attention, the bug? lolz.. the detail on the road with the holes from the spiked wheels is cool too.. and the necron.

Is it just me or is the LoTR stuff rather lack luster? I mean the bronze single figure? She isnt even holding that sword.. its just kinda.. floating there? Thats not the painter mind, but the figure is blah.
