Help with the Wolves

First off - Hi everyone. This is my first post on the forum, and all advice is appreciated as it will assist me in doing well at the local 'Ard Boyz here in Iowa on saturday. Just got back in the country (was in Afghansitan), and haven't played 40K in over a year and a half. I have spent the last 4 days going over the 5th edition rule book and pouring over my beloved Wolves Codex. I have read quite a few battle reports as well. So my questions revolve around the current format, and I can provided the following list of my opponents for saturday -

- Tyranids : troop heavy, runs 2 warrior primes as HQ, focus on a horde build

- Tau : weak player, runs max hammer heads, marker light pathfinders x 2, 2 crisis suit units

- IG : newer player , manticore, hydra, no gun ships, standard gun line

- IG : Veteran player , 3 + Lehman Russ tanks, 2 Vendettas, 6 chimera - steers away from leafblower

- Chaos - Veteran player , Nurgle + Tzeentch, 2 DPs, 4 - 5 troops - 2 max Obliterator squads

- Chaos - newer player, All Khorne, Lord w/ daemon weapon, Khârn, lots of Bezerkers

- Dark Angels : Veteran player, runs 50% Deathwing and 50% Raven Wing with Belial

- Tyranids: Cheater !! (caught using gimmik dice in 3 of the local game store tournamets) Judges have fixed this by providing dice that all players must use - runs Nid-Zilla.

- Dark Eldar - new player, raider spam, troop heavy

- Eldar - annoying veteran player, modified Mech list, designs more on not letting you win than actually winning himself

So there is the opposition -

i own about ... 15,000 - 20,000 Wolves with all characters, 10 Thunder wolves, Canis, 2 Wolf Lords on TW, plenty of vehicles (at least 3 of each we can use) and at least 4 maxed out options of everything else (ie..4 max Grey Hunter, Long Fangs, Wolf Guard...etc) as well as 8 drop pods.

So looking for some in put..like how many TWs are to many ? Read the scenarios and only 1 is objective based so more focus on "tabling" than taking objectives. Njal seems sweet (have never used him..but he is painted) i have 2 test games tonight, and another 2 tomorrow and would like advice on what to avoid or include. If it helps i can provide the list I am using at the moment.

HS: 6X LFs, 1X Pack Leader, 5X MLs

HS: Vindicator

I know it is not at 2500 points yet just what I got so far

Give one of the Wolf Lords on Thunderwolfs a Thunder Hammer and Saga of the Bear and the other one with the Frost Blade Saga of the Warrior Born. Both with the Wolftooth Necklace too. This would be another 80 points. I have seen alot of Njal run. Are you happy with him?

I would run with Wolf Guard too to get a powerfist and combi-melta into the Grey Hunters squads.

Well my thoughts on Njal - now remeber i have never actually run him yet so this is all theory-hammer - is that if I run him in a Rhino to protect him and get the most use out of him by having him on the board right away he can a) help vs psykers :) maybe get a few free kills with all the skimmers and jump infantry out there by making his 24" difficult terrain bubble, and c) -1 BS could cause a few of the opponents big guns to go wide and help deliver his TW bretheren

Thoughts:

Njal in PA: can go in a Rhino, allowing you to really mess up the enemy, however this rhino will be a high priority target.

You have no elites currently. While I tend to favor Dreads, maybe some Iron Priests on TWM for this list?

At least one pack of WG (Three minimum in unit) each with a PF and whatever weapon you want in the other hand.

I think it's Grey Mage that has a rule of try to get at least one Troop unit (GH's typically) per 500 pts....?
