spjaco
VENGEANCE BLADES FIGHTING STYLE The Vengeance Blades are primarily known for their armored assaults, though they have been known to launch assaults deep into enemy territory by using their Land Speeder Storms, Stormravens, and Thunderhawks to their full effect. The Chapter has even pioneered the use of the Stormraven and Thunderhawk for close air support of its ground elements. The Chapter can launch their attack using Drop pods or Landraiders to equal effect. spjaco
Well some information is better than none. My chapter has learned that the Rhino is not the safest chasis for carrying troops into combat and try to avoid it whenever possible. The landraider allows them to take a hard hitting piece of armor into the fight combined with troop transport. I know 60 Land Raiders is a bit much. To tell the truth I am not sure I will keep the Terminator Armor at all or maybe reduce it to 50 or so suits. spjaco
Revision: Okay, Chapter is a appear to be a White Scars descendant of the most recent founding. So no Dreadnoughts or Landraiders. Also such they unfortunately lack Terminator Armor, they run either as dismounted squads that can deploy via drop pods or Rhino's. Their Devastator Squads can deploy via Razorbacks with two of the tracks for each squad, one for the actual five man unit with the heavy weapons, while the five others deploy in this manner as a combat squad. When they deploy on bikes the Devastator Squad use the Attack Bikes to deploy their weapons. In addition, companies 2-9 deploy as Battle Companies. 1st Company still deploys as a Veteran Company with six squads of Sternguard and four squads of Vanguard. The reason for the large number of Battle Companies is that they deploy to maximum effect every time they deploy and once a scout has earned his armor he is accepted as a battle brother in a tactical squad, once there, like the Space Wolves, he serves until his is promoted to an assault squad where he serves until he is promoted to a devastator squad. One way they deploy is via Stormravens and Stormeagles and as such formations composed of one single type of squad would be easy to isolate and eliminate. Stormtalons are used to great effect as close air support as well. This chapter relies on speed, violence, and force of action. The scout company is typically composed of at least two hundred recruits. Aegnor
I think violence tends to be a key tactic of every chapter. ;) The battle-company versus reserve company thing has been argued up an down. The idea of having four reserve companies does seem strange but makes sense when you think about it as a chapter as a whole rather than ten independent companies. What's the reasoning for reversing the order of progression from devestator-assault-tactical? The Wolves do it because new marines are too blood-thirsty to be trusted and only the grey beards can be trusted with heavy weapons. Is there a similar issue for your chapter. Yes, similar and since the devastators may have to put their more lethal weapons to use in close proximity then they need to be more skillful in their placement. As far as the reason for a lack of Reserve Company(s) this chapter prefers to either Air Assault in, Drop Pod in, or use high speed light vehicles to strike fast, and in all cases strike hard and to maximum effect.
