Night Lord Test Model

Recommended Posts

So, like it says on the tin, gents. I just finish my first test model and probably my 2nd actually painted model and I would greatly appreciate your opinions on the matter. Originally this was supposed to be one of my punishers, but I somewhat scrapped the idea and returned to my roots of terror.

If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer.

Could use a lot of work and touching up, the paint could use thinning down in a lot of areas and it's not been properly applied in places like the bolter and the shield (it's a bit messy). The highlighting needs some work too, don't just slop it on! Take some time and apply it neatly

Other than the obvious, it has promise, think you've got the paint scheme more or less. I like the bronzey-gold used!

If you are going for 'tabletop' quality then I'd say you are spot on, a squad of marines of this standard would look pretty fine from a few feet away :P

If however you are trying to create the most beautiful thing since the Emperor's armour was spit shined by Ferrus Mannus, then I would refer you to Nidhogg_Rider's comment.

Keep going though, we only improve through practice ;)

For a second model, I'd consider it quite well done.

I see you have some issues with getting the paint to cover. Instead of painting the base colour on black, try doing several layers.Start with something lighter than black, but still darker than what your aiming for. For white, I usually base the model in Dheneb Stone (covers really well). After that, you could just start painting with white, or you could gradually lighten the colour by adding more and more white (or whatever colour you're going with) to the mix for each layer.

I must say that the uneven coat does make your Night Lord look rather weathered and worn, which is cool actually. :P

okay likes. mttled blue is cool, lightning is a cool idea but needs some work. bloody trophies rule.

what needs work. thinner paint more layers, lightning could be thinner but has promise, more even coverage would be nice but the effect it gives your blues might want you to keep at it. blow up my phone later if you need more clarification.
