marine77
A long time ago I posted some pictures of my Templar Wolves (Count-As). I am basing mixing Templar iconography with Space Wolf rules, etc. One of the more theme-y units I created for the army were some count-as thunderwolf cav in which all of the model were riding horses. You can see pictures of those models and the whole army on my blog at: Templar Wolf Pictures. I recently got a hold of a really neat Reaper Pegasus miniature and decided to use it to create a counts-as thunderwolf lord to go along with the others. I am really excited because the pegasus (after removing wings and covering shoulder joints) makes a massive and pretty impressive warhorse. I wanted to get people's opinions on the model as it stands now. You can see a more complete report on my blog at: Counts-As Thunderwolf Lord Here are a few pictures. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C2EtTZXc8Ys/TkSo0aG3bEI/AAAAAAAABXE/CzVFjm2ZK6Q/s1600/IMG_2170.JPG http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-H3nxFvy-C2Q/TkSo2NBOujI/AAAAAAAABXI/Zd3qnbNDcEQ/s1600/IMG_2171.JPG http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aLGCwM1vQIA/TkSo40msPyI/AAAAAAAABXM/XuRK73abDa4/s1600/IMG_2172.JPG http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FJdGlZtcPxs/TkSpW28aLvI/AAAAAAAABXU/h-hlgdqQF8Q/s1600/IMG_2173.JPG I still have a bit of work to do, as you might be able to see, but he is coming along nicely. I hope to have him done shortly. Thanks for your input and comments. Glaeken Templaris
What would be even more mega awesome is if you could get a second set for forlegs build behind the first set to give it a Slepnir look. Been thinking about building something like that myself as a diorama model. marine77
You heard me right, Marshal. Believe when I tell you that I have already received tons of flack from the fluff bunnies. However, it is a great way to use my Templar models and provide a cool theme for my army. nurglez
Sleipnir has 8 legs if I remember correctly, and yes having a space marine riding Odin's horse would be damn cool :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236169-lord-of-the-thunderhooves/#findComment-2845571 Share on other sites

Hyaenidae
Model four like the four horsemen of the apocalypse, and you'll have me sold. Cool concept, I'll be keeping an eye on this! Inanimate
I like the idea a lot, but your horses look far too dainty. You should've gone with Chaos Steeds instead. :D they Look absolutely monstruous, and their armour looks like it could hold up for at least a few minutes on a modern battlefield. Keep up the good work! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236169-lord-of-the-thunderhooves/#findComment-2846312 Share on other sites

Personally speaking I can't see why mate, genetically engineered soldiers riding genetically engineered steeds is an extremely characterful route to take and I think he looks great. The horse looks suitably big enough to carry him and isn't really that different to the idea of wolf riders to not fit into the background material. Excellent work, keep at it. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236169-lord-of-the-thunderhooves/#findComment-2846363 Share on other sites
Spacefrisian
Its the idea that most nay sayers dont seem to understand, horses being geneticly altered. Most used reason is due to tech being lost (makes you wonder where al the marines come from.) Master Of Malfeasance X
Though I don't particularly approve of using horses for thunderwolves, I am happy to see that you got a horse model that looks large enough that a space marine could ride it. We had a guy at my LGS who used bretonnian horses and they looked horrendous.
