pre-hersey epic rules

Hello,

Has anyone made or know of any pre-hersey epic rules? I have been thinking of making a display pre-hersey epic army and would like to know how to make a list. I know that pre-hersey squads were bigger in size, so companies would be what 2 or 3 times bigger than normal?

Also what about jetbikes? Were they used as a 5 man detachment or were they used as full companies? If used as full companies, which legion would use them like that?

Any ideas?

I don't know of any specifically tailored lists for pre-heresy but most people that I know just use the regular lists and have jet bikes as counts as regular bike detachments.

Squad size is a little vague at the moment but you could count a single detachment as a platoon if you wanted.

I've looked into making expeditions with army units and admech included in the list but the problem with epic is that it is really easy to mess up the balance of the lists with too much dabbling. Most pre-heresy epic players I know tend to avoid this and just stick with the regular lists letting the conversions do the talking.

Best way I know of doing it having dabbled in it quite recently is to leave out vehicles that you know weren't around at the time.

thanks, doghouse and bohemond for the replies. What rule set are you using?

I have found Netepic gold at this site:

http://www.netepic.org/netepic.html

And the E:A at the GW website. Just trying to figure out which is more popular.

Now for count-as vehicles, What are you using for the following vehicles:

Sabre tank hunter >

Jetbikes > bike detachment

Raiper weapon platform >

Thudd gun >

stormbird > Landing craft?

robot detachment >

Fellblades > IG baneblade

I know the following vehicles:

whirlwind > during later stages of hersey

Vinidacator > during later stages of hersey

Predator Annihilator > post hersey

razorbacks > post hersey

AA Hunter rhino > ?

Personally I regard the Space Marine Regiments in the Horus Heresy article from WD126 (the Space Marine 1st edition army list) as the definitive source for such things, but then I'm so old skool I spit cobwebs :D

I may be mistaken but I think the Epic: Armageddon rulebooks collectors section (the one part of the rules that isn't downloadable - tho they were when it was still undergoing playtesting so you may be able to find them with the wayback machine) has rules for robots, whilst Swordwind has rules for saveless Imperial Guard Thudd Guns and Rapiers - you could give them a 4+ save and double or triple the points.
