Forté
Up till now, I've been set on using a force based on Bran Redmaws GC. Love the idea of lots of MotW and tearing the enemy to pieces. Problem is, the tactics often used by Bran of have GH laying in wait just isn't possible and trying to work a list to fight like this has just frustrated me. Just defaulting to using Rhinos just doesn't feel right. Then, looking over the GC lists, Bjorn Stormwolf decides to make some noise to me. Head on assaults. Loud weapons. Avoiding scouts (quite a loss but could live with). Tempting I've got to admit. Does anyone have an argument to sway me in either direction? Cheers. Ring-around-the-roses
Bjorn makes big boom boom in enemy ranks. Hurhurhur. Bran makes little men run screaming from scary wolfy time. Hurhurhur. Thats the extent of my knowledge when it comes to those two wolf lords. Firenze
Bjorn makes big boom boom in enemy ranks. Hurhurhur. Bran makes little men run screaming from scary wolfy time. Hurhurhur. Thats the extent of my knowledge when it comes to those two wolf lords. And surprisingly, tells it very well. In my case, I 'made up' my Wolf Lord (Lord Ragnarok :P) but if you wish to play one of the official guys, then yes, Bjorn is a blunt object, slamming all his heavy resources into one spot. He is a little like an ork. Big guns, bigger ego ^_^ Bran is slightly cooler in my eyes, as he is cunning, and has a bit better tactics in my opinion. Bran must use Rhinos sometimes, so don't be afraid to use them in your army too  Drop Pods are another idea, or just clever deployment and tactic with a hybrid or footslogging army. Play what you prefer to play, what [for you] is more fun. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236186-bran-or-bjorn/#findComment-2845637 Share on other sites
Ring-around-the-roses
Aha, but Bjorn has Vindicators. In Space Wolves! Pure win with explosions running around, packs of superhuman monsters charging right into the teeth of a enemy force thats wondering where their command bunker has gone. However, Bran has the added benefits of the mental picture of a dozen howling madmen springing from the bog in the moonlight, axes and swords rising and falling rythmically into the soft meat of the enemy. Am i making this any easier? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236186-bran-or-bjorn/#findComment-2845639 Share on other sites
Firenze
Aha, but Bjorn has Vindicators. ... And so does every other company. I'd expect so anyway. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236186-bran-or-bjorn/#findComment-2845643 Share on other sites
Ring-around-the-roses
But he has lotts Vindicators. That make big boom boom! The difference between having Vindicators, and using Vindicators is immeasurable. Unless you are using inches, in which case its usually about 24 inches of difference. Hahaha liking the sound of the boom boom (and would have to use 2 Vindis...) But the howling savages also rings home too..... Ring-around-the-roses
2 Vindicators? sorry, did i say boom boom. I meant BOOM BOOM ;) 3 Vindicators. And only becuase you can't have more. When you're basing it on a character with this kind of personality, i always try and pay homage. You find anything explosive, from a melta bomb to a thunderhammer(they make a BoomSplat sound) you grab it. Same with bran. If it sounds like sneak...sneak...CHAAARGE! then grab it in the army. Lotsa camoed up wolves and maybe some thunderwolves. Sneaky camoed thunderwolves? Blacksad
you could use ultrasmurf models for them... they're just THAT sneaky! :cuss Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236186-bran-or-bjorn/#findComment-2845769 Share on other sites
Ring-around-the-roses
Nonono, thats alpha legion you're thinking of. By the way, am i the only one whose had the idea of the Adeptus Astartes representative on terrra(whose a ultramarine) being a alpha legionnaire in disguise? As for the 3 Vindis......I could (and luckily have them) but my long fangs would miss out. Camo wolves sounds good though. Blacksad
doubt it, but we're getting off-topic :cuss Bran: scouts, GH in DP, GH in Rhino, sneaky little git-tricks like Land Raiders carrying an Iron Priest and servitors => you pen and roll a 5 or 6, or it just keeps on comming back to bite you in the behind soundtrack of Jaws or Alien playing the entire battle. Bjorn: Vindicators, Bikes, Jetpacks, droppods with missile launchers (bigger boom than a lowly stormbolter ;)) and prolly some Thunderwolf-mounted Iron Priests, or Dreads Ride of The Valkyrie, Apocalypse now-version playing the entire battle. Brother Crazywolf
So does that mean you love the smell of promethium in the morning or you need a bigger boat? Couldn't help it. Sorry. Either GC has its own merits. I went with Bran because, at least to me, there is a bit more flex to his ove Bjorn. Not saying either one is better. I personally like the idea olf sneaking up on my opponent, in one way or another, and tapping them on the shoulder to say Hi. Chapter Master Ignis Domus
You do get a bunch of stuff in IA 11 if you choose Bran. Jus thought you might want to know that. Seems to me that Bran sneaks some of his force while the rest attack like maniacs from the front. Maybe Bjorn style too.
