Commander S. Caesare
Okay, from what I read and heard, Dorn seems to have plenty of weapons at hand made about him. Fist of Dorn Soulspear Sword of the High Marshals Tell me if that's not right. It there's more, that's just ridiculous. Ring-around-the-roses
All the primarchs probably had loads of artificers competing to make the most AWESOME weapon ever for their primarch, which is why we have so many weapons of the primarchs lying around. Just like the crux terminatus and the Empy's armour. He probably had vaults of the stuff lying around, which only had to come into contact with him to qualify as Empy armour Mk. Uber. He had to of had whole storage facilities of the stuff, made for him and gifts from newly liberated worlds. Their is no one suit of armour for the Empy, that would be bloody annoying to keep up with. Iron Father Ferrum
There is precedent for having weapons they don't actually use; for instance, Russ had a spear given to him by the Emperor but he hasn't been shown to actually use it in battle in any fiction or art I've seen. That being said, I would throw out that the brief mention of the Fist of Dorn is Lysander's entry doesn't actually say that it was Dorn's hammer. You have to figure that a Primarch-sized weapon would be difficult for a normal Marine to use; case in point being the Forgebreaker. In Fulgrim, when Ferrus is talking to his Marines, he hands the hammer to Gabriel Santar who, despite being in the strength-enhancing Terminator armor, can barely hold it up. Just because a weapon is named after someone doesn't mean it was theirs, just that it was named in honor of that person. This is especially likely with Space Marines, since they have a marked tendency to idolize their Primarchs. Coryphaus 101
You're forgetting bare hands. They were standard Primarch issue. The only Primarch that didn't have them was Ferrys Manus. Instead he had white hot metal bare hands. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236193-dorns-armory/#findComment-2846139 Share on other sites
Ring-around-the-roses
Ferrus must of have had a distinct advantage over the enemy, being able to melt their armour and arms just by smacking them. And yet Coryphaus 101, you forget Primarch issue headbutt, and standard roundhouse kick attachments. (imagining Angron roundhouse kick somebody in the head. ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236193-dorns-armory/#findComment-2846141 Share on other sites
Zincite
There is precedent for having weapons they don't actually use; for instance, Russ had a spear given to him by the Emperor but he hasn't been shown to actually use it in battle in any fiction or art I've seen. In one of the Space Wolf novels, Ragnar meets the 13th company and one of them says something along the lines of... "That old thing? Pah, Leman always hated it. One feasting night he got drunk and flung it away as hard as he could. We had to search for days after trying to find it. He only kept it around because the Emperor gifted it to him." That's just off the top of my head, but it would seem that he hated the spear had thus didn't use it. Ring-around-the-roses
Probably becuase it didn't suit his fighting style, in the idea of keeping your opponent at arms length while you stab at him, bleeding him out. Russ i imagine was more of a bullrush kinda guy, all or nothing type fighting. I don't know if anyone agrees, but do you think Angron's style would be more...show-off. He was raised in a gladiator pit, so he must of have been groomed to make the fight look as cool as possible. That would make Angron a quite good dueler i imagine, as he must of have been pitted constantly against the best of the best. In Ravens Flight when Angron is hunting the remaining Raven Guard, Corax is pretty much certain Angron is going to turn him into a bloody smear since all but 2 Primarchs could go toe to toe with Angron and come out on top, those being Horus and Sanguinius. The Primarchs must have all had a huge array of weapons. They were created for war and conquest and different enemies and armies surely must have meant different weapon and fighting styles would more or less effective, so different weapon for a different situation. Plus all the ceremonial sunday best type affairs and spare/extra pieces of armour. Coryphaus 101
Well Ferrus had a whole armoury's worth of weapons he crafted himself, Angron had probably about a billion stabbing knives and three or four bug 'chain' weapons. So Dorn really isn't that ridiculous. As has been stated earlier they would all have plenty of different weapons to help then fight plenty if different foes so Dorn's armoury really isn't that ridiculous. Big Hammett
As I recall, during the dropsite massacre, Corax had a pair of Lightning Claws (destroyed by Night Haunter just after he filleted Lorgar with them), his fancy Power Whip doodad, a Heavy Bolter and the blades on the wings of his jump pack. He carried all of these at the same time, so having a few more doesn't sound so out of the question.
