Khan is the scars primarch. NO ULTRA HATE, FOR IN THAT PATH LIES CENSURE AND PURGATION! ;) seriously, ultrhate is counter productive. just be nuetral, its easier and better on the nerves. Assist all sides, hate none and love all.

I Shall Not Be Quoted!

Looking at you thade :D ;)

There's one question you should always ask yourself when adding a feature to the chapter. And that's "why?". This simple question breaks down into a few more complex problems. What will this feature add to the chapter? How does it reflect their character/theme?

To make an excellent IA, your chapter needs to be unique. This doesn't necessarily mean that they need mixed geneseed, to be descended from the 21st Primarch or be female marines (though it doesn't rule it out either...). What sets a good chapter part from others is their character, or theme. It goes back to the question, "why?". Why do your marines act like this? What makes them get out of bed in the morning and drop screaming into the jaws of death to smite the blackest horrors of the galaxy? What is their character? How do they view the Imperium. It's generally a better idea to work all this out first and then consider how to make the other aspects of the chapter such as History and Geneseed reflect this.

Take your time with it as well, people will generally respond more to a cleanly presented idea than have to browse a multi-page thread to collect all the little ideas in each post :P

Thanks guys.lol rose i meant i dont like girlyman,my marines are indifferent.and thank you sigismund,i needed those questions to think out my IA a lot beter..ive literaly rewritten the thing.. :HQ: so thanks guys for helping me bounce my ideas... :)
I wouldn't go the STC route, as it would be fairly obvious of anyone got a STC, the damn things being rarer than a peace-loving ork. And contain instructions to make uber-weapons or facilities. Finding one, and realising how to decode it, then actually using it would take the kind of balls most chapters don't have. Reason being, they will get purged for not giving it to the AdMech and therefore supporting the Imperium. As in, their brothers would hate them. The Imperium, from the church to the bolter, will kill them. It would take some pretty damn high backing to try and even get away with traitoris extremis in that kind of circumstance. Point being, BA got away with it, and the AdMech are still uber- ^_^ about it.

Maybe a Techpriest that has been left on his own in a data library, after a failed expedition. The Chapter rescues him, and he is quite frankly bonkers, so he starts downloading all kinds of AdMech secrets into the Chapter datavaults, to purge himself of the lost knowledge he has swimming around in his brain/ipod. Deed done, he shuts himself down, wipes his memory cores, and is given to the AdMech with no idea of what he has just done. Where he is terminted for not keeping the lost secrets of the data library. Suitably Grimdark, and could happen, maybe ;)

Let the wholes in this be punched forth.

You could do it another way - who sez the source of knowledge has to be human?

Let's say our chapter master is pissed taht those pesky tau has such shiny guns. So he captrues some of their "mechanicus" and forces them to teach his techmarines...or someone. Or a tau scientists could even offer it willingingly out of fear, pleading for his life (again, during an attack by hte SM).

Basicly find people loyal enough and willing, stick them somewhere no-one will look and force a science-savy xeno to devulge his secrets.

I'm contemplating on using this for my own chapter, altough it might be cheesy too.

Its a good idea, trashman but a)my marines arent suposed to be tech masters and b)im not going to do what some inquisitors and admechs havent been able to do for years, interogate the tau succesfuly and gain their secrets..(geaz why dont the inquisitition jus read the tau codex :D )but thanks all the same ^_^

Even better, have the librarians rip the knowledge out of the tau's mind, and after sifting through the 'good' bits (peace, love and all that jazz) he places the knowledge in the techmarine's mind. Insta-teach! And certainly heretical. Hmmm

Maybe their stuck on a far battlefield, have just taken a tau base, and want to learn how to activate the base defenses. The librarian, being young and relatively inexperienced accidently gives ALL technical knowldege from the tau, who is now a gibbering wreck. Better, methinks.

And no Trashman, using that in your IA would not be cheesy. The way you explain it however... :D

Maybe we should rename this thread 'the sounding board' or 'RANDOM IDEAS TO DO WITH IA' ?

HEhh..the inquisition and AM are probably incompetent, in that they think tha tau are toying with them when they speak about heretical "science" :P

Again, if I were to do it, then the Chapter master would create a 11'th company (which doesn't exist on any records), put a few promising and loyal astertes (who are killed in battle in chapter records) and a whole bunch of promising mortals (then again, my chapter master is a planetary governor, so the chapter has mortals in it), dump then in a bunker/lab under some moon and let them do SCIENCE!!!!!

This is actually a very good idea. You don't even need a librarian for this....let a marine (or tech-marine) just eat the taus' brain!

This anecdote is not power-armored, per se, but somewhat related. My Warhammer Online guild (for the two months I played with my friends) was titled "For Science!" We only numbered ten but had a banner that said "For Science!" in neon lettering above it. It was remarkably how many other players we didn't know would charge in with us, all yelling our guild name as their battle cry.

The Emperor would have been pleased.

Why does that remind me of Dr. Insano?

Eh, is this topic about Mixed gene-seed or about something else?

(for anyone who knows me. I'm here for moment and not exactly sober, but anyway... )

Soooo, mixed gene-seed is actually not entirely domain of Cursed Founding, but it's *normal* practice during foundings. BUT it often ends with questionable results. If you want to go for mixed gene-seed, go for it, but Sigismund is right, ask yourself why? before making something, what do you really don't need.
