puck
So I had an idea to chop the barrel off a heavy bolter and either fashion two MM barrels or cut up two melta guns and attach the twin barrels to the heavy bolter body to make a MM on the cheap. In the community's opinion how 'good' would this conversion look I've google searched it and can find no images of this conversion and holding the pieces up next to each other only gets you so far. I suppose I'll just have to try it and see how it turns out, but it'd be nice if someone else (with better skills) has already tried it. Khorne Worny
I myself was going to attempt it but on reflection thought it would look silly as the HB back pack an ammo belt look silly attached to a multi-melta tipped heavy bolter. My advice is dont attempt it you never know when you want those heavy bolters. madscuzzy
Heavy bolters are generally the most abundant heavy weapons in the box. Most people would usually go for the harder hitting ones, giving HBs a miss, especially when HBs can be found on most platforms, usually with more effectiveness. As mentioned the square shapes of the back pack might be weird, but perhaps sticking a disk on it will make it look more like a tank or something. Or heck, sticking a tank to the top of the backpack work. Its the cable feed that might look the weirdest. One thing to note: MMs can be carried without backpacks. You can always use cannisters like the ones from the Landspeeders. The barrels, for easy use, just using tubing, or failing that lego...:P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236454-heavy-bolter-to-multi-melta-conversion-idea/#findComment-2849731 Share on other sites
Montuhotep
As said above, I think the hardest parts would be something to disguise the ammo feed line and indeed the ejection port.
