Borinar
I am stuck between the following two load outs and was hoping to get some assistance with my decision. 10 Terminators, 4 Demon Hammers, 2 Psycannon/Halberds, 4 Halberds. Split in the following way: Demon Hammer Demon Hammer Halberd/Psycannon Halberd/Psycannon Halberd Demon Hammer Demon Hammer Halberd Halberd Halberd My other option is to drop a Hammer from each 5 man for another halberd. I am also stuck with whom to designate as the Justicar, My initial thought was to pick a Halberd from the second Group however, I could choose to Master Craft his weapon and I believe I would want the Demon Hammer MC'd before a halberd. Decisions, Decisions... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236525-gkt-loadouts/ Share on other sites
BLACK BLΠFLY
Here is how I currently run mine at 10 strong - Justicar - halberd & stormbolter 5x halberd & stormbolter 2x daemonhammer & stormbolter 2x halberd & psycannon - psybolt ammo Here is how I split them into combat squads - 1) Justicar, 2x halberd & stormbolter, daemonhammer & stormbolter, halberd & psycannon 2) 3x halberd & stormbolter, daemonhammer & stormbolter, halberd & psycannon I like the psybolt ammo since I play against IG a lot and you can crack their chimeras fairly easy with side shots which is fairly easy to do teleporting a squad and using a servo skull. Brother Demandred
I would go with 2 psycannons, 2 Daemonhammers, and 8 halberds. Split up into 2x5 GKT squads each squad would have the following loadout. Psycannon+Halberd 3x Halberd Daemonhammer I would make one of the halberds the justicar. I recommend taking more halberds over more daemonhammers because of the lack of stormshields. Without the durability of being able to fall back on a 3++ save, the goal should be to kill as many of the enemy unit as possible each turn before they even get the chance to hit back. The problem with giving the Justicar a Daemonhammer in order to MC it is that if you happen to perils while trying to cast hammerhand or activate the squads forceweapons then there is a good chance that one of your daemonhammers just died. Making the justicar one of the halberd users still gives you plenty of other halberds left in the squads in case of something like that. Borinar
Thanks for the response. You don't double stack the cannons in one unit? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236525-gkt-loadouts/#findComment-2850524 Share on other sites
Brother Captain Kezef
My lineup is similar to BO's but I have one of my two Hammers on the Justicar. For combat squads I normaly have one psycannon per squad so that if one is wiped out I still have a psycannon. nurglez
I think you should decide on it game by game. sometimes it is nice to have several cannon's in 1 squad, lets you focus fire better (1 squad pop a tank, the other squad shoots/assaults an infantry unit). Majority halberds is preferred, minimum 2 hammers of course. Fred Johnson the 3rd jr
I am going to go WAY out on a limb here and agree with what a bunch of people are saying: I would go with 2 psycannons, 2 Daemonhammers, and 8 halberds. Split up into 2x5 GKT squads each squad would have the following loadout. Psycannon+Halberd 3x Halberd Daemonhammer I would make one of the halberds the justicar. BLACK BLΠFLY
I think that is the best build for the reasons given. It is also good to spread around the special weapons so you don't lose two to a failed save.
