Capt. Kenaz
Hey Guys and Gals, I just customized my 1st Dred. with magnets I had gotten from my place of work, and was wondering what and where do you order your's from? Whats the best size to order, as the ones I had previously 'just' fit the dred's arms with a little bit of shaving the plastic back with a knife. I appreciate any help you can give, as it'll save me a lot of time and frustration too! Thanks!!! Krakev
Ebay search "Neodymium N50". For larger pieces like Dreads (I use these for Carnifexes/Hive Tyrant/Trygon etc) I'd try 5 or 6 mm. Best thing to do with the magnets is to but a drill bit the same size as the diameter of the magnet. There are loads of sources of HSS Drill Bits that will do the job beautifully. I've taken recently to buying the drill bit a tad oversized, so 6.4mm for a 6mm magnet, then you can fill the gaps with green stuff and control the magnet, if it only just fits the hole and you push it in too far it is as good as lost unless you are really quick at retrieving it. N50 indicates the strength of the magnet, N30 upwards will suffice, but if you want that extra bit of pull to allow you to position the arms, you'll be best going for the strongest magnets you can get. Krakev
Awesome advice! Thanks so much for taking the time to lay that all l out for me. I appreciate the help. Not a problem at all. I love magnets so much, I find myself sitting magnetising stuff even when there aren't options for swapping out bits. I've got 10 scouts that all have magnetic heads, why? I don't know, but I did it anyway! :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236540-rare-earth-magnets/#findComment-2853824 Share on other sites
