Brother Delacroix Posted August 18, 2011 Share Posted August 18, 2011 After a 14 year break from the hobby i had an itch to start an army, and after having a look through the GW website the Black Templars really stood out to me so i quickly went about piecing together a small force. Here's a few of the models i've put together over the last couple of months. I'll be picking up the paintbrush and getting started on them soon. sword brethren Posted August 18, 2011 Share Posted August 18, 2011 love them! very cool. the sword brethren are my favourate by far though! using the swords as lightning claws? one suggestion would be to remove the blood angels icons from the champion. looking forward to more. At the moment i don't have any plans to actually play 40k, i just enjoy collecting an army, so weapon choices are based purely on what i think looks good. Look at the forth initiate on horse (the flail guy) just behind his shield there's a horse armourplate with the chaosstar on it. I don't know if you have already noticed that. I'm trying to give the army a medieval feel, so felt horses would be far more suited than bikes. I am indeed aware of the filthy chaos icon on the horse. Judas Priest, i was aware there was still some mold lines left, but didn't realise the extent till you pointed it out and i looked through the photos. Guess i'd better sort that out. The poses are very nice too and the Emperors champ is better than the original by far. I've subscribed and look forward to seeing this lot progress. oh, where are those sheilds from by the way? darth_giles Posted August 20, 2011 Share Posted August 20, 2011 Nice use of 3rd party bitz; those heads really change the feel of the minis from the usual space marines. Not quite sure how the rules would reflect mounted Initiates, though, since the rules for beast riders haven't been considered chapter approved since the end of 3rd Edition. Bikes, maybe? Brother Delacroix Posted August 26, 2011 Author Share Posted August 26, 2011 The Crusader Legs i ordered from Microarts Studio arrived today and it turns out they're a bit bigger than i thought they'd be so couldn't use them for what i had planned. So decided to take the arms of the GK termies i'm currently using as BT as i wasn't happy with them anyway, and make some proper BT terminators. At the moment they're very much a WIP as i only have the one Terminator torso, so had to keep switching it between models (got some chaos termie torsos on order, i like the spikes), and i'm not 100% happy with the poses yet. I'll also have to lengthen the torsos when they arrive to keep them in proportion with the legs. How was the shipping time from Microarts studio? They didn't dispatch them until 7 days after i placed the order (then another 5 days for delivery), wasn't particularly impressed. I love the shoulder shield, but it's simply too big so i'll probably make a more suitable one from milliput. I'll also probably make a replacement for the backpack lantern, and i may truescale him.
