Deathwing Apothecary conversions

So, I've made an apothecary myself, but I'm thinking of making a new one. My current one was using apothecary bits from the command squad sprue.

I was thinking about using the Fabius Bile backpack and surgical arms, seems it would be suffifiently cool, also allowing the arms free of apoth specific bits so they could be easily swapped without messing with the over all look of the model. Has anyone else thought of or tried this?

I have also copied the idea, i ll try to take a picture of mine tonight.

I've borrowed this idea from this forum, though I haven't finished any of the arms yet. The surgical arms fit very well on the top of terminator armour.

If you order the parts from GW they come with four or five Cypher backpacks - ideal for turning robed Dark Angels into Fallen.

Yes, you can get the set under Chaos Bits. A good thing to remember, every army has a bits section on GW. I've seen dopes on ebay paying lots of money for particular bits that actually come on a larger sprue that GW sells online - sometimes cheaper.

I'd say the cypher backpacks would work well for Chaplains also - or really any DA - not just fallen.

YoungWolf (haven't seen him around here lately) also did said conversion -

Mine's got the over-the-shoulder light off of an APO backpack mounted on his shoulder and reductor/narthecium setup (IIRC, I made it from a tech servitor arm...?) mounted to the elbow joint of his powerfist arm (he's armed with SB/PF, although I could say it's WYSIWYG for a chainfist, too...). That, along with the appropriate paint job, including the double helix emblem on both the fist and a kneepad...viola, an apothecary in TDA.

Thanks for the pics! Pretty darn good. Definite inspiration for me to go ahead with my idea. I probably wont get to convert my dude for a while though, but don't mind sharing pics of my current model.

Edit: here's some pictures of my current apothecary. next to a plastic dreadnaught for size comparison since I dont have any regular sized terminators to compare him to. Working on what I call truescale terminators, like other conversion heads out there. Dunno if its actually truescale or just artscale, or whatever you'd call it. I just know he's beefy. So you can imagine how my new one will look with the mechanical arms and truescaled up, swappable arms, all that good stuff.

Xyon, very cool, you guys doing the True-Scaling impress me a lot! Definitely more modeling and concepting than I've been willing to put in. One OT question though: how are you going to True-Scale the Dread. Now he looks dinky compared to the Terminator! :)

All the other Apothecay contributors, thanks! Those are some cool ideas for DW apothecaries.

Personally I'm not a big fan of the performance of dreadnaughts on the battlefield. But I was wondering about the truescale of dreads myself. I really really love the new contemptor dreadnaught, and I was thinking I could purchase a few of those, bulk them up a little, and use them as regular/venerable dreads, since they're quite tall all ready.

Here are pictures of my apothecary, just finished painting him tonight:

All I did was cut off the narthecium from the grey knight arm, cut off the tube from a terminator power fist, then filed them down and glued them together. I also used the light from the grey knight apothecary bits, I thought it would add a little extra to the model to differentiate it from the rest of the squad.

Bryan I didn't notice how poorly the eye was until I started showing it to my friends! Painting into the early morning after a few beers will do that I suppose. I'll fix it up once I get back in the painting groove again.

Alvena, I'll just say you've got the best conversion yet, no contest! Not too over the top, nice job using a chainsword too.

i just used the legs from the imperial guard walker (can't remember what it's called right now) and padded the legs out a little to make it taller and use it as a venerable dreadnought

I built mine using a chainfist and a part of the ravenwing sprue, veteran sprue and plasticard.

@aekold: interesting home made narthecium

@Brother Kovash : Mine is not the one painted with the chainsaw, that's Spammus eatus from warseer one.

Aekold that's a very good looking narthecium, looks like it could punch a hole right through some TDA armor. Awesome color scheme as well.

Alvena if I had actually read your post probably I would've seen that. Your conversion pics a few posts down looks pretty good too. Can't wait to see some painted pics.
