Ripher's Great Company

Finally got more work done on my Great Company during the summer, I had a ton of troops to rebuild as I was unhappy with my paint job from fifteen years ago and most everything fell apart which is fine as a Blood Claw squad with all power swords and plasma pistols has not been legal to play in some time... I also re-worked the magnets on my poor dreadnaughts I had posted at the begining of the summer. I also picked up a venerable dread so I could save the time of converting a plasma cannon, plus I figured I'd steal the idea of putting the wolf helm head in the ven. dread. I still have some thunderwolves, four more Blood Claws to get me up to a total of thirty as well as slapping magnets in my thirty terminators. I also plan to work on wolfing up some of the cookie cutter marines from AoBR and Battle for Macragge, I may try my hand at green stuff pelts as the tutorials on here make it look fairly simple. One of the memorable days during assembling all of this was the two days of nothing but drilling gun barrels.

Assembled so far, with the exception of extra wolfy bits that I want to spread evenly through the army once everything is assmbled.

Front and Center, 60 GH, 30 WG, 2 magnetized LR and 8 HQ options.

Left rear, the dreads I fixed up.

Left front, 25 LF, 20 scouts

Right front, my blurry FA, 12 wolves, 18 jump packs of various flavors, 14 bikes

Right rear, 3 speeders with all options magnetized and some tanks.

There are three test painted guys in there and once assembly is completed on everything I will be able to cut my foam to fit, then I will be painting up a storm. May seem daunting but I did the same for my Tryanid army which I now have to do some hacking and slashing to but I just don't feel like it, I'm in a Wolfy mood...

C & C are welcome.

Damn that's a lot of Wolves!

Seconded! The lack of paint on them gives me chills. It's quite a daunting endeavor displayed like that.

With all that mech, though, I'm surprised you don't have more Speeders and you have zero Swiftclaw bikers. Lacking Skyclaws I can perhaps understand, but I'm missing the bike squads for a mech army.

Either way, you do Egil Iron Wolf proud.

Indeed. Lookslike an awesome force. I did the red shoulder pad too, but I have the Great Wolf Icon on it and it's on the left shoulder. The right shoulder is for the packs. Most of which are grey with a black decal on. After all I painted mine for field battle. So they are more camoe looking.

Thanks for all the positive comments! It is a lot of wolves...

I like the Leman Predator! Just need to do something with the hull port.

The extra weapon hull on the Leman Predator will be probably be covered by a shield, possibly a wolf head but he sheild seems most promising so far. I am stuborn and felt the tank needed to stay in the force I had acumulated, magnetized it was well.

I do have a ton of painting ahead of me. :) My swiftclaws and skyclaws are in the fuzzy picture (front right), I have them magnetized so I can run a WG unit of either for fun games.

Also thanks, I was concerned I didn't have enough armor to claim Egil as the wolf lord for my army.

The three test minis are going to be GH. I plan to put a silver wolf head on a black background as the company mark with troop type on the right.

More to come in the future as it is to super late to add more now.

Quick update:

I have kids and can't leave little fun things laying out when not in use so this was my solution... My portable work station with the six more bodies to finish off 30 BC. In the top left tray I have 2nd ed. scouts waiting for a touch of GS to cover up where the back packs used to be, no clue where the packs ran off to.

Then a modeling question for those that either have experience with or don't mind the juggernaught TWC. Should I leave the circle decor in the middle of the leg or get rid of it?

gallery_60307_5970_2752719.jpg

Maybe I should keep it on the right side and loose it on the left so I can put my Iron Wolf emblem there?

I am on the fence my self as I think it looks pretty cool but I am concerned that it might not be very "wolfy". With this being a WG type rider and mount the colors will be Blue/Grey with black and some gold trim if that helps opinions. Would appritiate the help. ;)

Are you planning to GS-up the Juggernaught to add fur?

Nice to see a few GC popping up on the forums now. Still waiting on my model shipments to get started on mine :(. It would seem the ranks of the Space Wolves are growing ;). Few more GC like this and we'll rival the BT for numbers B)

you had to say it... hide the thread from the BT players someone :jaw:

No, we do not outnumber the BT. It's a discussion that's been argued to death a hundred times on these forums. We are 2nd in number behind the BT, and possibly even some of their successor chapters. The conclusion always come down to them being more.

Hard to keep tabs on the numbers of a fleet-based crusading chapter.

Paint it as a bulls-eye target. Like he's daring someone to try and shoot him there.

Sounds like a vote against the circle decoration.

I am thinking all mechanical construction with Iron Preist looking riders. Fluff wise the Ironwolf Cavalry of my army are built and manned by Iron Preists (they will still be counts as TWC). The main hurdle that I see in the assembly is atempting wolf like feet to replace the hooves.

This is The Fang, they won't have a chance to get in and see it! :P

I actually do not know about entire chapter size of the BT (other than they have lots) so I can not comment but I am a believer of SW having more marines than most chapters.

Anyhow... Any one else have any suggestions on the decoration? I am stripping all of the chaos from these beasts to turn them into TWC so perhaps I should remove it?
