Request - Parts from a Scratch built Liby

HI Guys.

Considering a Libby as my 2nd HQ Choice.

Now, there a re a couple of things.

i'd like to custom make him from scratch.

How can I make him slightly bigger and stand out?

What sort of parts would you use in an attempt to make him look 'Librariany' or 'Mysterious'?

What Base will he be on, if I'm not mistaken its a 25mm Round?

Thanks Again.

Ok, after reading your parameters for creating your Libby, these are my suggestions:

Mysterious: check out the Dark Angels veterans sprues on a bits site. The robed legs and/or torso's and hooded heads might be what you're looking for.

Librarian-y: The Grey Knights plastic kits have a large amount of books, scrolls and purity seals in them that could help you with this. Also some of the bare heads in the GK kits look suitably wired up to be protected by a psychic hood. You could also use guitar string to construct the cabling for his psychic hood and a marine shoulder pad to create the hood itself.

Bigger and more stand out-y: If you decide to use the robed legs from the DA kit then this might be kinda difficult depending on your greenstuff skills, however you could consider using plasticard spacers to 'true-scale' your librarian. If you don't want to fully true-scale you could try adding a spacer to his waist to make him taller.

Base: unless he's in TDA he really should be on a 25mm base to follow GW's rule of 'must be based on the base the mini came with' although in reality I doubt many people outside of tournaments will take issue with this.

Perhaps if you could supply some more information on your Librarian we could provide you more assistance, ie: his Chapter, his rank within the Librarium (lexicanium, codicer, epistolary or chief librarian). If you know these things it'll be easier to taylor his appearance to suit. However I hope I may have been able to give you a few pointers to start off with :)

Heres a link to my converted Librarian - http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=236497

I used parts from the BA Sanguinary Guard box and th PA Grey Knights box. I too wanted to give him height, so used the Sang Guard legs as it makes him look like he's floating.

A bit of bling and some purity seals help make him stand out as does the psychic hood (from the PAGK box)

Hope that helps.

I'll be honest, I do my libbies differently. I prefer using one of the big huge warglaives (or the axe) from the Sanguinary Guard sprue, and then painting it different. If you do blue-purple power weapons, then maybe paint it red-orange or greenish-yellow. Anything to make it stand out, although they're going to be much larger than anything else in your army anyway.

If you don't want to shell out for Grey Knights, you can make a fairly sorcerous-looking psychic hood out of a cut-down shoulder pad. There's two or three ways to do it and make it look convincing, any of them will work. Using a DA robe could work if you don't use them for anything else in your army. I prefer to leave off the wires and hoses that you usually find on Librarians, but that's up to you. They make the figure visually busy in a way that I really don't like.
