Crowe or Stern?

Stern and Crowe are both thematically (read as "fluff-wise") very awesome. Stern is a beast in melee and reasonably durable...he's also got that caveat-heavy super power that allows to reroll some dice (armor saves, hits, wounds maybe) at the cost of allowing your opponent to reroll any dice he/she chooses (one per each of your own rerolls). I think that's insane and probably fun.

Crowe is a 3+/4++, doesn't have EW, and doesn't have a Force Weapon (though he hits hard and Rends). He's more challenging than Stern to fit into your list. He's nice melee support to defend a homefield objective and can engage a tactical squad on his own and do alright.

I can't disagree with Jeske; the Librarian can support and compliment Draigo wing in many ways. If you dig the models for the other guys though, by all means, try them out.

Crowe is only good if you want scoring Purtifers other than that I wouldn't use him. Stern would me interesting in a Draigo but again he doesn't give you anything to your army as a whole. The Librarian would be the man for you really. He has psyhic powers the rest of your army doesn't and he can give alot of the Draigo wing guys cover save which is better than the 5++ save they have against AP 2 or better shots.

Just a minor thing, but Crowe has a 2+/4++. :P

Look at that! Not so bad, then. :) I still think he could do with EW, but as is he can still mulch an infantry squad that doesn't have any S8+ melee in it.

No disagreeing with you there. He's seen as the PA equivalent of Draigo these days, so that would make lots of PA fans (like ME!) actually feel like taking him AND using him. ;)

The abbreviations are the lifeblood! :P

PA = Power Armor

TDA = Terminator Armor

EW = Eternal Warrior

S8+ = Strength 8 or higher (referring to Instant Death through Toughness being half as much as the Strength of the attacker)

2+/3++ = Armor Save/Invulnerable Save

And Fluff... Well, its also the lifeblood <_< Fluff refers to the story of the game, the background material.

You could just rename this thread 'Bad or worse' but that is helpful to no one so I'll give you some decent info.

Crowe is utterly useless in a draigowing army he is designed for purifier lists where people debate if hes even worth it there over a GM, hottly contested topic but with dragio there is just no point.

Stern can at least fit into a draigo list though he adds little to nothing. I lib is better.

Is there anything in particular you are looking for in a second HQ or any reason you want one these characters?

Regards,

Crynn

I'd add Inquisitor with Psycannon, to be honest, cheap, 3 wounds for Paladins, and with Draigo it's not like you haven't spent too many already.

Also, regarding Crowe, "substituting" him by use GM's ability to make units scoring is, like, a pointless waste of good SR.

Somebody please explain what Dragowing is..?

This is another terminology thing.

Death Wing is a Dark Angels company that is entirely comprised of Terminators. It's in their fluff; it really exists. You need a specific special character (I forget who) that makes your Terminators score/count as Troops.

Logan Wing is a spin off: it's a Space Wolf force that is comprised entirely of Terminators. You need a special character (Logan Grimnar) that makes your Terminators score/count as Troops.

Draigo Wing is another spin off; it's a GK force comprised entirely of Paladins. Draigo makes Paladins count as Troops.

When I say entirely above (in all three cases) note that I mean specifically infantry models. No Power Armor. They can bring tanks, transports, and walkers and still fit the name. <3 The definitions aren't hard and fast (for Draigo Wing, anyway) but those there are the most common usages I've seen.
