thunderwolves

Check out the mournfangs coming out next week for ogres. Stocky tusked wolves with rhino like feet. Minus the tusks, looks pretty close. Subtract the hump on its back and I'd say that's the best thing I've seen for a thunderwolf. What do you guys think? If they're using this mold, we could easily see them by the end of the month.

I wonder how much will it cost....probably finecast as well so lets say 3 for 60 pounds!!

the mournfangs look more feline than lupine. Whast up with those tusks? as for the feet they can easily be GS to look like clwas. Its just the faces look wrong. But depending on price these may be the best way to go.

and why do the ogres looked like they are standing on the things back, Really bad positioning.

I love the thought and imagination put into the mournfang and thundertusk. My problem with the conversion to thunderwolf is that their leg anatomy looks to be for a lumbering beast, not a particular fast or stealthy beast.

I wouldnt have a problem using them, but that would always be nagging me.

Okay, so I went back through my codex and the new WD. The codex said they have more in common with rhinoceroids, but they don't look it in the pics. But it's a plastic kit and has some cool bits for other projects. From what I can see of the sprue, it looks normal w/o the tusks w/o any conversion needed. And they're not so much lumbering, but stalking. Rhinos can be pretty fast. All in all, though, this kit gives me high hopes for seeing the real thing by the end of the month.

Rhinos are fast. As are elephants and hippos. Bears are fast as well. However their locomotion is moredefined by a lumbering speed. Lumbering does not say apex predator to me.

See I imagine thunderwolves as these monstrous S.O.Bs, admittedly bigger than often shown in GW images. I got hold of some Manticore bodies and legs fairly cheaply on ebay and am slowly working through converting them. Greenstuffing the 'fingers' together to make paws, creating a bushy tail, and making the head armoured to disguse the non-canine head/nose. Nearly finished one and already it looks pretty effective (potential photos when I've found a camera...) The only real issue is making all 5 look different.

All be using the new Mournfang models ( they're plastic ), for my TWC.

I'll be keeping the saddle, switching their current heads with plastic wolf ones, figuring out the best way to attach a wolf tail, and making decent claws/feet out of green stuff.

Everything looks good on paper, so I'm waiting for the releases.
